Well done everyone, this thread is so motivating, its good to have support and advice, it makes it much easier. I've lost just over 3 stone now, still got a couple more to go, my BMI is now 29, it was 36  I was looking at last years holiday photos yesterday and I was absolutely horrified by how big I was, I think at the time I was in denial and didn't realise how big I was!! At least I know this years will be much better :P
Tonight I'm going out for the first time in ages to celebrate my sisters birthday, I'm a little worried, I'll be ok with the food cause I'll just have a salad, but hoping not to consume too many calories in alcohol!! Hoping if I do lots at the gym tomorrow and Sunday it will balance out!!

Very inspiring Annej. It does feel brilliant when you compare yourself to a past photo, doesnt it? (personally though, I hate looking back at any past photos! Its all about now and the future). Go into that party with your head held high, follow the eating tips I posted yesterday and enjoy yourself, thats what parties are for! But be consience about what you're eating and drinking and you'll be fine. I dont know what kind of diet pattern you have but I always time my weekly high calorie day on the main socialising day. You could treat today as such but still watch what you eat. If you must have alcoholic drink than go for single shot clear spirits and a diet mixer. Perhaps Vodka and diet coke, or Gin and low cal tonic water etc. My favourite is rum and diet coke, more calories in rum but I gotta a little carribean blood in me ;)

Have a great party :)

Thanks. Yes that’s a good idea, I think I’ll stick to vodka, soda and fresh lime, maybe I’ll have one glass of wine. Usually I have my treat day on a Saturday, where I’ll have a piece of cake or something nice, so I’ll trade that for tonight instead.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Have a fun weekend everyone :D

You too BettyBoop. Welcome back on the Wagon, Oh Grande Founder of this thread ;) And good start! o/ o/ When you do get busy and feel you are off the track, keep remininding yourself of your goals and have strong ones. It helps to keep you on the track and enjoy the journey at the same time. Remember, even when ultra busy, you can only put on weight when you eat more than your maintenance level. So all you have to do is watch what you eat to at least stay the same weight...then to lose it eat a bit less calories and more exercises. But I'm sure you know the drill as being with WW ;)

Still curious as to what WW does, do they set out diets for you and exercise plans etc?

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the glorious cold weather (I truly think summer has come and gone hasnt it...grrr)

Hello again x TCMMrGlass......You really do live up to your signature!

WW give each food a points value.....each person has their own points allowance that is decided by what sex you are, height, weight, age, and level of daily activity.

You are encouraged to write down (track) your points consumed each day so that you can actually see how much you really are eating.

It basically makes you aware of your food choices...you obviously want to eat as much as possible so that you are not feeling hungry all the time so you make better food choices and ultimately these end up being lower fat options!

Its seems to work!

Sounds like a great scheme. Makes it easy for everyone to keep track and control of what they eat. Nice.

You mention lower fat options, yep, but I'll like to add that the fats to avoid are the Saturated fats - keep that to an absolute minimum. They are bad fats. But the good fats, the unsaturated ones are actually an essential part of a healthy diet. Such as nuts (particularly walnuts) and fish (omega). So when you say lower fats I hope you mean just low saturated fats ;). As for anything with hydrogenated Oil - avoid like the plague!

So I guess WW doesnt include any exercise plans? Hope you are nevertheless complementing the WW with some effective exercise plans or jogs and fast walks? If you find yourself at a plateau further down the line (ie slow progress in losing weight, despite exercising and healthy dieting) then thats when you need to change your diet to other foods, and also your exercise plans to kick start your fat burning metabolism again. May I offer a couple tips to raising your metabolism along the way.

1. Spread your meals into 5 meals (breakfast, mid morning, lunch, mid-afternoon, dinner)
2. Interval Training. Ie. when doing cardio (wether it be walks, running, cross trainer etc) do short bursts of intense cardio (so say 5mins training zone, 30 sec high intensity, then back to lower intensity, repeat cycle). Racket sports such as badminton are great fat burning activities.

Well done so far BettyBoop. And good to have you back!

I'll be sticking to eating healthy food but won't be dieting/losing weight/restricting calories as I have just found out that I'm pregnant. But all the more reason to eat well and eat good calories!
