You were elected to be Mr Motivator to control us gorgeous girls (so pleased we've not got skype ha ha)
oh! lol. I have an alternative idea, how about both you and the patient on a trampoline...:)

Considering that you are working in a medic zone, I find it ironic, you are all surpressed to do normal healthy activities! But I know your moto, Diane, its "there's always a way", I like that ;)

Here's an excellent article about interval training, with suggestions of different types.

http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/tips ... ervals.htm

But these articles fail to point out that racket sports such as Badminton as are also great interval training as long as you play them competitively.

Thanks MrGlass that article was very interesting. At the moment I've been spinning 2-3 times a week and then going to the gym twice. I will try that tonight doing intervals at 12kph for 2 minutes and see how I get on, we do intervals in spinning. I haven't been doing any resistance work in the gym, I've just been doing cardio (treadmill, bike, stair machine and cross trainer), but someone told me that the rower is a good overall workout so I'm going to try that aswell.

Hey MrGlass, would love to join. Weigh in this week, lost 2lbs. I'm really trying to up my exercise, I am severely unfit and suffer with asthma, but I'm walking (briskly) during my lunch break for 10-15 minutes depending on how long I get, I'm then doing 15-20 minutes of dance on the wii. I'll be looking at toning exercising as well because i'm rather large and will the weight loss well you know how it can be. Thanks x

well done Cluck0304 thats brilliant and all the regular exercise is fab, Mr Motivator will be on hand for proper advice. I've only lost 1lb in the last fortnight due to shortage of time to exercise only just got in from work since 8am this morning and have to go back 8 til 9 8O I'm ready for some strong words from MrGlass as I know my excuses won't wash as I know my social life is partly to blame

Welcome furry, we don't p*y anyone we all do our own weight loss programmes ourselves, I just count calories and add exercise into my week, everyone has there own way of doing it and our elected Mr Motivator due to his fabulous achievements gives us guidance along the way.(don't let him read this as it might go to his head lol)
Very impressed with Annej and the man himself with the running, I must get my body moving!

That's great stuff Clucky, just keep that momentum going. And to keep it going you need to be driven. And to be driven you need goals. Set yourself a goal. That's you first assignement ;) Have a look at the progress chart for examples, could be anything, like fit into a dress you use to fit into, running in an event, losing enough to do a parachute jump etc. If you play a sport, a goal could be to finally beat someone you never could beat and usually that involves being fitter.

I am also asthamtic, but I never let it rule me. Neither will you let it rule you. By getting fitter, you can combat it. I'm actually running for Asthama UK so I'm running for you too, lol! Maybe you might like to do something similar?

Consider going to a gym and get yourself a program, and stick to a routine of like say 3 times a week. Hows your diet? Whats important, is you eat a healthy balanced meals, no saturates, and to be in total control of the total calories you consume that should be about 20% less than your maintenance level. I can elaborate more, if you wish, just let me know :) But if you have time, read back previous posts in this thread, and you can pick up a lot of tips!

I'm entering you in the chart :)

So I guess Clucky be replacing JMD who's got bloody pregnant...oh...ooops didnt see you there, JMD, um congratulations, very happy for you...oh I said that already? Uh, you know what I'm keeping you on the chart, girl, cos I think you made an enough achievement to inspire others ;)

OK, now for some strong words for Diane (always look forward to this part  ) But you know what, you lost a pound. How can I be upset with the fact you are still losing some weight, yeah, you very capable of losing more but still, well done, Diane :) BUT BUT you know you can do better (as usual!) and ok, you cant get much opportunity to exercise more. BUT you can continue eating healthily. However, I think you are on the whole eating with discipline because if you weren't I dont think you would have even lost that pound. You do still need to cut down on eating out a lot though.

Everyone needs to remember, 70% of losing weight is all down to what you eat. The other 30% is down to exercises (cardio & resistance). Exercise may be a lesser factor but its by no means an optional one. You need the cardio to burn the fat. And you need the resistance exercises to feed your muscles which assists your cardio in burning the fat :) And dont forget this is all about losing the fat, not weight!

If you havent pm me your progress, do so now!

I can be on the list to balance out all the weightloss and add some weight gain to the chart :) My purpose can be to make everyone else feel so much better about themselves because I will be getting bigger by the day!

Haha.

Sorry for the Delay! Here's are the results for this fortnight's Fat Loss Progress Project!

And the winner is...drum roll please...ME! Well done Mr Glass, Kate Winslet is looking curious now. In fact J Lo is making advances but patience, why accept her now when you can have Winslet in short while???

But what's this, once again, every one has made progress! New entrant Clucky lost 2lbs in 1 week to start and could well have stole this fortnight's trophy. Annej continues to make disciplined progress just falling a fraction short on her target but still lost 3lbs. The rest of you can learn from Annej's excellent progress as she changes her cardio activities every few weeks, so not allowing the body to adjust to a regular routine. Dont do same exercises continuously. The only thing I would strongly advise for Annej is to include resistance training, as this will accelerate the fat burning. Yes it does. Its a popular misconception with women that all weights do is bulk you up. It certainly gives you a bit of muscle but its essential aid for fat burning during your cardio. And finally, Diane, you lost a 1lb....s-l-o-w but well done ;)

Here's another tip for the most effective fat burning exercise that you can do when in the home or at work...jogging up and down the staircase. That really gets the heart pumping and is a form of interval training. Diane, surely that's not out of bounds for you...unless you live and work in bungalows, lol.

Clucky, so what are your goals? Pm your stats and I'll work out your target dates, BMI, Body fat etc. But you also need some material goals too and recite them like a daily mantra ;)

Well done everyone, especially Mr Glass o/
I’ve been doing the interval training with my running, so far I’ve been doing intervals of 4 mins at 10kph and then 2 mins at 12kph (the first time I ran at 12 I thought I was going to fall off the back of the treadmill!!), I’m building up to doing this for half an hour, so far got to 18 mins of intervals, then 12 mins at 10kph, but want to do intervals for the whole half an hour. I will start doing weights in the gym, but I get put off because I always think its best to burn calories doing cardio than weights, but I will ask one of the trainers what I should be doing with the weights.
I must confess, I think by the next weigh in I will have fallen off the wagon, I’m going away for the bank holiday and have a few big nights out planned in the next 2 weeks, I’m going to be extra good with my food when I’m not out and try to get lots of exercise in, but I’m not sure whether it will balance out by weigh in  Oh well you have to relax sometimes 8O
