The film still had not started by 10 past 11, and there was a terrible noise being generated by the sound equipement. I had to go out and alert the cinema staff that there was a problem before the film was eventually set away properly. I was told that the film had been "skipping" - which apparently explained the dreadful random noises being generated as we sat there waiting for it to start. Anyway, enough of me saving the day

I'd read a couple of middle of the road reviews about this film, so I was pleasantly surprised when I thought it was quite good. There was quite a liberal smattering of bad language, so if that kind of thing offends you it may not be to your taste. I thought it was a little overdone but was still within the bounds of acceptability.
I won't give the story away but there is one scene where the guy (Kirk - Jay Baruchel) meets the girl's (Molly - Alice Eve) parents for the first time which is very funny. There is also another outrageously funny but extremely cringeworthy bit where one of the guys male friends is assisting him with something in the bathroom

The conversations between the guy and his mates when they are dishing out "how to succeed with girls" advice are terrific. In a way it was quite reminiscent of a lot of male bonding films I have seen recently (Hot Tub Time Machine, Hangover etc. etc.) There were great performances from Eve and Baruchel and some good supporting performances from Kirk's mates Stainer, Jack and Devon. Molly's friend Patty - Krysten Ritter was rather good and very easy on the eye too

Yes, In a nutshell it's your run of the mill predictable RomCom film where some fantastic looking and successful girl meets a geeky guy with an ordinary job and they kind of hit it off much to his, his family's, his ex-girlfriend's and all of his mates understandable disbelief - but it's OK for that nonetheless. It's easy watching stuff so put your brain in neutral and let it wash over you!
7 out of 10 from me.
