We Are Your Friends

#1 Post by aajsmh1 » Tue Aug 25, 2015 2:31 pm

Saw this last night at Odeon Trafford - after a few projection issues.

I found it quite bad, I thought most of the stories were never fully explored and there were too many themes without any real outcomes, and not a in a cool way.
They tried to go with a bold style to start with - which felt childish - yet they never had the conviction to carry it through the entire film.

Poor overall.

Saw this yesterday. Terrible terrible film. Woeful storyline with secondary storylines that aren't fleshed out, and then forgotten about. Poorly filmed. The music featured is terrible. No big dance tunes that most will know - apart from the title song. Efron is OK, does what he can with a one tone role. Wes Bentley looks like Wolverine.
If people think this is how you become a DJ then they are sorely mistaken. It's nothing like what is portrayed here.
The more I think about it, the more I think this one of the worst films I've seen this year.

evidently someone must have heard about Eden, and came up with a watered down American version.

not withstanding Eden was pretty crud, this is infinitely worse. Wheres the exit?

I thought this was quite good, in a saccharine American kinda way. Way better than Eden in that it at least had a story. Found it slightly contrived though particularly in the way that he had the inspiration for his defining "track".
I liked the semi animated sequences at the start which helped introduce things.
I definitely liked the music.

It did however come across as the pilot episode for yet another teen TV series from the states on a satellite channel rather than a blockbuster movie that you would want to p*y to see.

Glad I saw it (for free) but perhaps not worth the cross country journey I made, and probably not worth spending a voucher on either.

I saw this the other night. I was really looking forward to it, but sadly didnt meet up to my expectations in the slightest. I even questioned whether zac effron would be proud to star in such a movie. The concept of the movie was great but I just did not feel it. 4/10 for me.

Saw it on Wednesday, laughed, enjoyed the music, the dramatic beats worked for me, thought the visual aesthetic was perfect for the setting and characters. All round great piece of work I will enjoy watching again in the future.
The film Eden should have been, quite frankly.

Some parts made me laugh, other parts made me cringe. It was half way to being interesting and didn't get much further than that. Felt messy. 4/10
