Of course it's not too late and you're very welcome, I too want to get back to a size 12 and I'm a size 14 at the moment hoping the next 10lbs will do the trick. Just submit your height, weight and goals to theycallmemrglass (if you want to, you can omit any info you want - I only put my weight on to shame myself into dieting)

By the way Mr Motivator I do work in a bungalow ha ha (single storey health centre) but do live in a house so can do the stairs at home. :p

I’ve been doing the interval training with my running, so far I’ve been doing intervals of 4 mins at 10kph and then 2 mins at 12kph (the first time I ran at 12 I thought I was going to fall off the back of the treadmill!!), I’m building up to doing this for half an hour, so far got to 18 mins of intervals, then 12 mins at 10kph, but want to do intervals for the whole half an hour. I will start doing weights in the gym, but I get put off because I always think its best to burn calories doing cardio than weights, but I will ask one of the trainers what I should be doing with the weights.
I must confess, I think by the next weigh in I will have fallen off the wagon, I’m going away for the bank holiday and have a few big nights out planned in the next 2 weeks, I’m going to be extra good with my food when I’m not out and try to get lots of exercise in, but I’m not sure whether it will balance out by weigh in  Oh well you have to relax sometimes 8O
You're approach is brilliant. I can see you're putting a lot of effort in this. But you are misunderstanding the concept of resistance exercises. Resistance (ie weights) are not supposed to burn fat. Well, they do burn a little fat but not significantly. What it mainly does do for you is build your strength effectively improving your capability to do your cardio with more intensity and endurance thus burn more fat albeit indirectly! Furthermore, by not doing any resistance exercises, you could end up burning muscle instead of fat, and that will be a very bad thing (if you do excessive cardio, which tbh I dont think you are but there is a possibility depending on type of body you have). A little more muscle will not make you manly either, just more toned.

Just wanna throw that knowledge at ya for your consideration. You going so well anyway, I know, but you are quite advanced in your journey, and I think you can do even more to maximise your fat burning effeciency ;) So its also worth measuring your body fat % and muscle mass % as you go along on your journey and not just your body weight to see how that is progressing. Maybe your gym has such scales? Or you could b*y one for about £20-30. Just another thought for you.

Welcome KKenedy! Well done for taking the initiative to join a gym! Have you actually started using it yet, though ?!? lol. If not, then dont wait any longer. Go and book yourself an induction and get them to give you a program ;)

Well done for also setting yourself a goal, in your case to fit into a size 12 dress. Always helps to have a goal in sight. In fact its essential. Next is to set yourself a target date to achieve your goal. Assuming you will hit the gym 3-4 times a week, you can aim for a rate of losing 1.5lbs per week, maybe 2lbs (ideally). Exercising is only 30% part of the process though. 70% of the process is your diet so start eating healthy and reduce your calories (but dont let your body ever starve!). If you'd like help with eating plans, let me know.

As Diane says, you are welcome to take part in the Fat Loss Progress chart. Every fortnight, I take everyone's stats (at least the amount of weight lost, or body fat % lost if you do not wish to divulge current weight). And we all motivate each other here. I was simply elected to be the main one! I also drop tips and advice on here from the knowledge base and experience I have gained in my own journey which is based on the most healthy lifestyle methods of dieting and exercising from professional fitness gurus.

And feel free to post any thoughts you have here ;)

Absolutely Anakin, though fruits are good for you in moderation but its a popular misconception that eating lots and lots of fruits is healthy! And one of the biggest culprits of having too much of without realising it, is fruit juice. Fruits have sugar, so must be accounted for in a fat loss diet. Thats quite a nice diet plan there for weight loss, though as it stated, its a short term one.

Fats are good but what is not often emphasised is that it is the unsaturated fats which are good for you. The saturated fats are what you have to try to keep to a low level.

Excellent stuff, you're off on the perfect track. Thanks for your stats, with that program, I think a target of 3-4lbs loss every fortnight is reasonable, and if you keep to that program before your holiday, you should lose 15-20lbs by then!

Was aware of the fruit / sugar conundrum, just never associated it with bloating as such...
