Not Receiving Email Alerts

I just did another FF post. When I leave the window alone, instead of eventually confirming the post, I get this message instead.

Request Timeout

This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.

I suspect the timeout is caused by the subscriber list taking too long to process. If this also aborts the notifications then there is a solution, make the connection timeout longer. However I have no idea how to do that.

Ok. I have had a bit of a cull of inactive users. Some of them haven't been active for years but as they were long-standing members before, I have hesitated so far. But in the end, if they are no longer interested, they shouldn't clog up the board, and they might still have had board subscriptions active. Everyone who wants to come back, can always register again. Also, if you only have one post you will no longer be able to survive on that forever. We want people who are interested enough to participate, not just to get email notifications then swoop in to book the tickets. Sorry if that offends anyone.

I chris2013 has already re-registered, he's had a few incarnations but never posts. I was sat behind him at a walk in the woods q&a the other week and I could see him logged in then (not close enough to see his username, I just know who he is and what usernames he tends to use)

I've received the odd email, but still not consistent. I'm new to FMUK and yet to get a ticket (missed a few because of no email alerts), so haven't left many comments. I look forward to getting an email and ticket, then talking about the film/experience on these boards. However from what was said above, and due to email problems, I'd imagine I'll probably be on the dreaded cull list! How many other new members are having email alert issues?

Since you have managed to post just now, I think you've been saved from the cull?
Some of us have been members for years and post regularly including posting codes for the new films, so whilst new members are important so too are us oldies.
This is a friendly site and surfers who come see, take a code and flit away unseen are not really adding to anything or in the spirit of the site. It's fun and it's for sharing. You can make some good friends on here, both locally and further away. You can also pick up other great tips and freebies, not just films, so anything good you see, do come and share. Hope to hear from you soon. You can always post reviews for films you pa*d to see - that's what I'm about to do.
