Letters to Juliet

An American girl discovers a love letter that changes her life in this romantic comedy starring Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave. The setting is Verona, Italy -- the city where Romeo and Juliet first met. In Verona, there's a wall where the lovelorn leave notes, hoping that Juliet will answer their inquiries about love. Sophie (Seyfried) is part of a team of volunteers who respond to the letters. When Sophie answers a letter from 1957, the woman who wrote it (Redgrave) decides to seek out the one that got away, and romance starts to blossom all around.

Starring: Gael García Bernal, Vanessa Redgrave, Amanda Seyfried, Franco Nero

Director: Gary Winnick

UK release date: 21st May, 2010

Running Time: 113 minutes

Trailer: http://letterstojuliet-movie.com/

I caught this trailer the other day and liked it - not too demanding; and it takes place in Verona - the scenery was stunning - reason enough to go and see it, in my opinion. :D

As a Telegraph subscriber I'm well annoyed there are no screenings in Scotland so I've told them so!

I try my best to entertain everyone.

To be fair, the Telegraph have a subscriber blog page and they had actually asked this week people to contribute their thoughts as to the offers they are doing for subscribers, so it was really just good timing. I don't think I'd have gone out of my way to moan at them!

A 3 hour return trip to Newcastle is a tad far for a free ticket. I've been known to go through to Glasgow on occassion as it's an excuse to go shopping (shops are much better there than here in Edinburgh!)

Lol I understand your pain.

I don't want to go Holloway Road because when I looked it up, its at least an hour away, will require travelling through Zone 1 during peak hours so I have to rethink if it's actually worth the effort to travel up there.

Still not sure why there is nothing very central or closer to SE London.

I don't want to travel for even an hour let alone three hours!

Well I wouldn't call Holloway close to me at all, but still it's relatively closer to Central London than say Wimbledon or Greenwich....

Not quite. An American in Itlay replying to ancient love letters addressed to Juliet as in Romeo and...

the reviews have been pretty pants, but I seem to have liked films that others have thought rubbhish recently (ho hum!)

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. The Italian countryside looked fabulous in the trailer that Andrews posted. o/

I'm ready for something a little more mainstream following my excursion to Rec2 the other night. :D
