£1 admin fee for non-movie events with SFF

#1 Post by Sunny Saver » Wed Jan 27, 2016 11:54 am

More events for 2016

We get occasional complimentary tickets for shows, concerts and other events which have proved extremely popular.

There are many reasons for getting tickets - from bulk ticket cancellations, slow sales, or, as with film, the producers simply want to spread positive word of mouth about the show or the venue. Whatever the reason, it means more opportunities for you, ranging from musicals to magic shows, modern dance to mime, comedy to pop concerts.

Admin Charge

We’ve had so much positive feedback from our members on events to date that we are keen to develop more. However, resourcing this is expensive as we do not receive any fees for this service. Consequently, we are going to start charging an administration fee for such events - it will be minimal, usually £1 per ticket – and please note that this admin fee will not apply to FILM promotions.

We hope that this will help you to enjoy more of what our cities have to offer. EAS offer remains the same – you will get priority notification, although admin charge will still apply.

We are very excited about being able to bring you these tickets, and looking to bringing new entertainment opportunities to our members.

They already offer an EAS service which is £17.99/year and now they are going to introduce additional charges? :nono:

To subscribe to invited guests only, do you still have to be quick off the mark with getting tickets?

And I find it fair enough that they are charging, less people will waste the tickets so more opportunities for others - even if its a measly quid!

And will you still think of it as a "measly quid", if the events are cancelled by SFF? And what about when the "measly quid" becomes £2 per ticket or increases annually?

I'd happily p*y £1 to be honest. It's less than a lottery tickets and you get better odds.

The sparrow, all I am stating is less tickets will go to waste for people who actually want to use them even say people claiming 4 tickets but only using 2.

Yes, very often you still have to be quick off the mark. Most of the invites I receive are sold out before I can book.

As there is no time to find out who is free to come with me before booking I tend to grab the maximum amount. If I later find out I have overbooked I will then cancel the booking and rebook immediately for the right number of people. I don't know how this will work with the new system. Whilst I don't really begrudge p*ying £1 I wouldn't want to have to p*y twice.

I'd thank you not to be rude to other members please. Personal attacks are completely unnecessary.

Of course, there's the possibility that SFF has not thought of these various scenarios of cancelling, lack of seats, theatre cancelling tickets or it might have a little disclaimer that it keeps the £1 whatever happens. I guess we'll find out soon enough. We can always feedback this if we go and are sent a feedback email. There is an email address to write to if we have any queries, but I haven't been for such a long time, it hasn't spurred me to write.

£1 isn't a lot to p*y if it works, but if it's too successful you can imagine the mail then, the scheme is so successful we are increasing our admin fee to cope with the huge increase in work!

Edit: I reread the mail, it says 'usually £1 per ticket' so could be more or less.
