...ggggggGGGGGGRRRRBa dum tsh.

Unsurprising, dull, plain and narrow-minded. If you're familiar with the current BBC series The Night Manager, this is similar without the espionage, intrigue and purpose.

On the plus side Matthias Schoenaerts is a star and the movie was well presented with a good use of sound.

Well. It had promise. Atmospheric and well paced.....for episode one of a six part TV series. Unfortunately it isn't.
I'm getting a little tired of lazy directors that think it's ok - nay artistic - to present a half-finished piece of work as a complete movie and expect us just to suck it up.

It's getting 3/10 from me - exactly half what it would have got and deserves if it was actually finished!

Had tickets for this and intended going but things didn't go according to plan this morning so cancelled tickets and went out for a walk in the sunshine instead. Glad I did as we don't often get such lovely weather.

What a waste of a morning. So boring. And in French! Why did no one tell me this before! I have nothing against French films but I resent having to read subtitles on a Sunday morning when all I want to do is shut my eyes now and then! But no, had to keep them open! It's just too much! Luckily OH didn't read me all the text out loud as he normally does. Another reason why I am nervous around subtitles these days.

I winced when the lovely Diane Krueger confessed she was German and that stupid bloke asked her whether she could speak it fluently and tried to impress her with the three words of German he knew. I get this all the time, though it's usually "Ein Bier bitte". Peeps, please, don't. You have no idea how annoying this is having to listen to terribly garbled German and pretend it's great pronunciation. It almost never is. The other day the consultant in the dental day care unit tried to tell me all about his gap year in Heidelberg! And then he complained when I answered back in English!
Whoops - got a bit carried away there. Rant over.

Anyway - what's the point to a story that never really gets explained? It had as much tension as Hop, only with added violence.

Oh dear Beate, how annoying for you! I studied German for my A-levels years ago, & stayed with a German couple for a week. It was a great experience & enabled me to immerse myself in the language. I had a tv in my room there so watched lots of films & tv at night too (& I loved watching x files out there-"Akte X: die unheimlichen falle des FBI"-can still remember that after all this time). One day, their family visited & we were all eating dinner round the dining table, I pronounced a word wrong & they looked really confused-I think I asked for a table when I really meant to ask for a spoon! I remember they took me to see Titanic at the cinema & I was really proud of myself that I could understand every word. Even nowadays, 18 years later, whenever I b*y a DVD I always go to the languages menu & see if there's an option to watch it in German & I can still understand quite a lot :)

Sorry I went on a bit there - nice memories. I always thought how lucky I was - my friends from the same German class also went to stay with people there for a week but the people were always out so they kind of had to fend for themselves, whereas I was driven to places, taken to the cinema, & had homecooked meals :)

Sorry, I probably sounded a bit snotty above. I just prefer speaking English these days but it's great you have so many lovely memories of Germany. We never subtitle films, we dub them into German. On the one hand it makes it easy to follow a movie, on the other hand the main characters always have the same voices as there aren't that many people dubbing for a living!

No you didn't sound snotty at all :) yeah I did notice that the same voices tended to pop up in programmes when I was out there

Just saw Disorder. What can I say. I didn't know beforehand that it was a French movie. The subtitles didn't bother me as I am French.
The movie somewhat left me cold. Very slow, self indulgent at times. It had a lot of potential but ended up feeling unfinished.
I would have liked to see more about Matthias Schoenaerts' PTSD. The movie stays very shallow.....Really disappointing. 4/10
