Get him to the Greek
Aaron Greenberg (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril. British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesnt mean he cant have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her backright before kick-starting his world domination.
As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.
Starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand.
Running Time: 1 hour 49 mins.
UK Release date: 25th June, 2010

Re: Get him to the Greek
Saw this tonight at Vue West End with milkchocmonkey and her OH. It was a Fancarpet screening and we got a free beer and a Pizzaexpress pizza before the film.
For me, it was the best film ive seen this year, absolutely hilarious. Russell Brand was brilliant playing the wacky Aldous Snow, the same character he played in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Jonah Hill was good and i didnt realise that P Diddy was so funny.
I cant fault it
10/10

Re: Get him to the Greek
They really went all out for this one. The GF had more than our share of booze and they defiitely did not skimp on the pizza. I was impressed. The movie itself was loads funnier than I had anticipated and Russell Brand was funny and bearable. P Diddy/Puffy/Sean Combs was a scene stealer though. The man is damn funny.
I'd give it 9/10. I'm a concert geek and no way does anything like that happen, throwing together a gig like that with no rehearsal time, sound-check etc, but I'm a stickler. Also, there really could have been more boobies.
Oh, we also gave a vox box or whatever it's called and took home a free dvd each, Synecdoche, New York and The Invention Of Lying.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Get him to the Greek
I was beginning to wonder if they actually existed as well. There's supposed to be another one tonight (Grown Ups). Are there any FMUKers going?superhero wrote:Awww it's nice to know fancarpet actually does do screenings!
Fancarpet have definitely ruined further free screenings for me though. If I don't get free beer or pizza everytime I'm going to be disappointed.
As for the film I really enjoyed it. It wasn't as consistently hilarious as I'd hoped but when it was funny it was really funny. Russell Brand was excellent as Aldous Snow with Jonah Hill pretty good in support. I also enjoyed Rose Byrne's role as Aldous Snow's Ex-girlfriend Jackie Q, a complete contrast to her rather bland role on 'Damages'. Lars Ulrich's cameo as her new boyfriend was pretty funny too. Kristen Bell also has a decent brief cameo reprising her Sarah Marshall character. But as others have said it is Sean 'P Diddy' Combs who steals the show as record executive Sergio. His scene with Pharrell was priceless, leading to a fantastic 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' gag. Did anyone else stay until the end of the credits? His disembodied head (don't ask) makes another appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with a spin-off of a spin-off.
Less successful was Jonah Hill's relationship subplot with Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men). I just didn't really care if they stayed together or not. And some of the humour did fall flat as well. But as I said when it was funny it was really funny.
And I also know that if I anyone ever gets stressed out, I will attempt to calm them down by repeating the line 'Stroke the furry wall'.

Re: Get him to the Greek
When I read the 1st post, I wondered how I'd missed hearing about the screening, but on re-reading more carefully, I saw it was Fancarpet and on checking their site, I see they had/have about 5 screenings this week, BUT all in London, alas. I hope SFF/TT, F4M, etc, will still preview the same films as I'd love to see this one.

Re: Get him to the Greek
I am guessing there will be more codes for the same screening. It sounds like the kind of film, HEAT would promote!
