Kung Fu Panda 3

#1 Post by kevinknapman » Sat Mar 05, 2016 3:49 pm

Despite low expectations going in, I rather enjoyed this.
Visually impressive with an excellent voice cast (including new additions Bryan Cranston as Po's dad and JK Simmons as bad guy Kai) and an engaging story.

It certainly doesn't offer anything particularly new in terms of content, happy to give fans of the franchise the same kind of things they've enjoyed already and not much more, but it's fun while it lasts and doesn't outstay its welcome.
Though Po's interactions with his new panda family add extra reserves of likeable humour it also increases the more obvious gags involving fat characters doing Kung Fu.
Also it's overly simplistic 'just be yourself' message lacks the depth and complexity that Pixar can bring to this kind of film.

As an example of keeping the attentions of the young and the young at heart however it's undeniably successful and not quite the cynical, money-grabbing exercise it could have been.

wasn't bad, the emphasis is on the visuals. Should be the last one though, they've milked this enough.

3 stars.

Saw this as my 1st film using my Odeon Limitless Card.
I went on Friday as the schools were due to stop that day for the Easter holidays so thought it could be pretty busy after that date. It was so quiet .....I had a private viewing!I must admit that I really enjoyed myself and had quite a few laughs . . . all helped of course by the free hot dog combo the manager had given me as I'd b*ght a Limitless Card. There was a wee dip in the film in the middle but otherwise, it moved along nicely and would probably keep all family members amused for an afternoon.
I agree with raj101 that they have probably milked this as far as it can go and hope they don't push out another . . .

Marks 7/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Films already booked for:

Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas
