Eye in the Sky

Watched it this morning in York, and found it to be fairly enjoyable. Although admittedly not quite as good as some of the reviews are making it out to be! Helen Mirren as always delivers another great performance, and I thought Alan Rickman did a good job with his small role. Sad to think we will never get to see him on the big screen again. Overall a decent film, but nothing about it is particularly memorable.

I really enjoyed the film and interesting to see the dilemma facing the politicians when having to make such important decisions. Good cast and good use of tension in the build up to the inevitable climax.

Saw it in Edinburgh this morning in a packed, could hear a pin drop atmosphere.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film and as previous have said there were one or two flaws but I am one for immersing myself in the story and in this case it had me from the start. Thought Helen Mirren was very convincing as a colonel. I liked the way you were given food for thought as to how the two in control of the drone had to weigh up the loss of the little girl who having witnessed her playing with her hoop shortly before she went to her table to sell bread had attached a personal connection to her against pulling the trigger against the terrorists.

I was hoping at the end that the little girl would pull through but then again that would have been to Disney so perhaps it was the more believable ending.

8/10 from me and would happily have pa*d to see it.

Edinburgh was mobbed this morning, and they were doing a roaring trade in the cafe beforehand!
I thoroughly enjoyed the drama in this. Yes, it was very British and in part did remind me of an episode of Yes Minister, but I thought Mirren and Rickman were excellent as were the supporting US and African casts.
So much better I thought than the similar Nevada drone film Good Kill with Ethan Hawke I saw last year.
8/10 from me.

Eye2 enjoyed this and found it a decent watchable film compared to some rubbish seen this year. Nice to see nosila50 and alythonian. wish the Cameo cafe staff could cope better with people wanting a coffee to take into the film with them!!!
A lot of adverts and a couple of trailers took up 20 minutes before the start of the main film. 8/10

Saw this yesterday at a completely packed Clapham Picturehouse. I thought it was an excellent, thought-provoking film. We have all heard about drone attacks in the news, but this film explained what goes on behind the scenes – the arguments, the indecisiveness, assessing collateral damage, the political correctness and the lies. It also shows how closely we work with the US and the Commonwealth. Refreshingly, the EU wasn’t mentioned once! It shows how much technology is now used in warfare, how clear the footage from the drone is and the awful decisions that need to be made for the greater good. Technology has moved so quickly that this film couldn’t even have been written ten or so years ago. Helen Mirren was superb as the colonel whose mission was to take out terrorists and ultimately save lives. The lovely Alan Rickman (RIP) was wonderful as her superior. Not an action film, but still gripping all the same. Were they right in their ultimate decision? Weighing up all the pros and cons – yes, very probably. It will certainly make me think about drone strikes in future. The only thing that disappointed me was that they could have used the Alan Parsons Project’s “Eye in the Sky” somewhere and they didn’t. I give it 9/10

I actually really enjoyed this. Acting on all parts was brilliant. If this is an idea of the technology we have in the world, I'm impressed! We should roll that out! I'm not going to take the film too seriously however as I'm not sure this is actually what happens. Lots of other 'bigger picture' films required! ....lots of opinions come out with this type of film, including mine! I'm not sure I agreed with the audience in terms of the bits they laughed out loud to either!

Definitely worth seeing 9/10

OH WOW! I think you are all missing the main point of this film. If the woman MP had not stalled the missile launch the young girl would have been in her home. So the point being let the men make the dicisions and everything will turn out tickety boo.
