Re: Star Trek Beyond
Converted 3d but it's good and maybe all the computer CGI effects were done in 3d ??
So that would mean all the space/cgi are native 3d stereoscopic.
Just make sure you go to a 3d screen that is bright enough tho.

Re: Star Trek Beyond
I was lucky enough to win tickets for Central PH but there was a lot of chaos with people not knowing what's going on and how the raffle tickets worked. Queues going down the stairs but plenty of available seats when I entered the auditorium. Really nice to see Idris Elba introducing the film, he always comes across as genuine and down to earth, given special thanks to The Prince's Trust.
The film itself was just alright for me, although I really liked Sofia Boutella's character. You could tell Simon Pegg co-wrote the script because he had a lot of dialogue. 6/10

Re: Star Trek Beyond
Really enjoyed this film. If I had to described what happened in it then it is just really one big action which is stretched out but it doesn't feel two hours long. 8/10

Re: Star Trek Beyond
Run of the mill Star Trek story, nothing special, entertaining enough but I've seen better. I enjoyed the few sparks of humour but there should have been much more of it. Main characters are fine but some of the secondary characters should learn to act with more conviction. It was never boring, so I enjoyed munching my pop corn while watching it.
Re: Star Trek Beyond
Enjoyable enough movie, keeps up the trend that odd numbered new Trek are pretty good, while even are the worst movies ever made.
Like raj I'd have appreciated a better understanding of the villians motivation, it's kind of there but it didn't quite click. And it bugged me when crew members were fodder, I know red shirts is a thing but it went against the spirit of the story too.
Were the enemy soliders CGI, they certainly moved like it.

Re: Star Trek Beyond
Saw this tonight for free with a free ticket for another film dated for a week's time! They never noticed. To say I wAs surprised to see Star Trek come up is an understatement. Still - a genuine FREE film!
Loved the story telling when it wasn't non stop action, but the rest was a little whizz, bang, pop for my liking. Too much like X Men Apoccy lips. Too much like watching someone else playing a video game for two hours non stop.
Loved the references to Leonard (although I think I missed how come Zachary's Spock was speaking about Leonard's Ambassador Spock).
Not seen Into The Darkness to be able to compare, but didn't disappoint.
7/10

Re: Star Trek Beyond
better in 3d, though not necessarily better special effects - some of the effects were a bit fuzzy like a video game at times, particularly the "mass wipeout" scene. The cityscape shots were however awesome.
will go with 4 stars for the 3d imax version, 3.5 stars otherwise.
