Did anyone else go to the Charity show, Bumblescratch on Sunday to celebrate the 350th Anniversary of the Great Fire of London?

Totally disappointing. We all had high hopes, of a funny and fun musical, but it felt long, boring and just not funny. The plot seems complicated, and all over the place. There was just nothing lovable about the rat, Bumblescratch. It took all my will power to stay awake! It didn't help that the Upper Circle was absolutely jammed packed and so stuffy, that people were fanning themselves or falling asleep.

I have never seen so many walk outs, and people fidgeting, going to the toilet, children eating or just plain restless, trying to touch the spotlight ray as it beamed down to the stage! That was funnier to watch than the show. I too felt like making shadow puppets in the light of that ray! And then at the interval, many just left, including me and my party. Perhaps, the second act would be better but once we were in the cool air outside, we could not face going back, since our seats were restricted view as well, so not very comfy, and headed down to the Thames to watch the model of the City of London burning, which was quite spectacular.

So we weren't wrong to leave - see this review! It's a bit long, but basically says what we thought, but more eloquently! haha.

Hadn't realised it is a work in progress, which really needs a lot of improvements, if they expect people to p*y to see it. ;)

Keep Dancing - New Theatre - Cardiff 20/09 and 21/09

#6232 Post by kittycoocat » Wed Sep 21, 2016 8:14 am

I just wanted to take the time to rave about the chance to get free tickets for Keep Dancing yesterday through Showfilmfirst.
In brief, it is an amazing show and if you love Strictly Come Dancing, you'll be in your element!
The production was most impressive with a relatively small team of 15 dancers, singers and musicians.
Robin Windsor fronted this show with Louis Smith dancing several dances with Anya Garnis.
The two hours flew by and I would recommend should any more free tickets become available, then grab and go. I'd happily p*y to see the show again!

managed to escape Bear Grylls (or whatever his real name is) Live Endeavour Show. It is absolutely appallingly bad! Unless you still happen to be aged in single figure digits, that is. But at upwards of £30 a seat, I fail to see what kind of parent would spend that money for a child for this kind of poor return. Moronic + spoilt perhaps.

I've never watched this guys show, except when flicking over channels but hes always struck me as being too earnestly fascinated in his work like a Blue Peter/kids presenter. However in the Adult world, his zeal reads as thoroughly fake. Which is a shame, because the guy has done some at least some cool stuff in his life (though a lot has been debunked as fake).

Its not even "so bad that its good" like perhaps Batman Live or Marvel Universe Live were. Its just BAD, and cant achieve latent self-parody because Bear wants to be taken seriously throughout the whimpering series of set pieces and fake audience volunteers.

My apologies to anyone who went, for stupidly posting that freebie code for it.

groundbreaking new show courtesy of Clive, Musical of the Year, does what it says on the title. A potted history of the West End, very clever, if a little long (2 and 1/2 hours).

go see it if you are a fan of the genre, the Lost Theatre, Stockwell.

It is indeed very clever and also very funny as well as having some very good musical performances. I would mention though, that despite being a British musical it's set in the States and is focused on Broadway rather than the West End. However all the hugely successful musicals featured have made their way across to this side of the pond.

Is anyone else getting error messages when trying to use the SFF Blues Festival links that went up recently in the "Free Theatre/Concert/Misc - codes only, NO CHAT nor COMPS" section?

For example, I keep getting "This code was for use by invited guest list only" for the Bad Company one.
