Journalist Clare Hollingworth died today in Hong Kong at the age of 105.

She broke the news of the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 and spent her life covering all kinds of dangerous places and lots of wars.

She stayed with us in our flat in the 1980s when we lived in Peking (as it was then) and gave me a great compliment saying "I don't usually like journalists' wives but I like you." From Clare that really was something. A truly remarkable woman.

Thanks for sharing charming that moment, EJ. I've been researching a lot about her on today's news of her passing. What a remarkable and inspiring woman she was. I absolutely love the feistiness and force of demeanour as she paved her way through those important historical events, overcoming dangerous obstacles with smartness and quick thinking actions. Her life or at least her world coverage surely deserves a movie of its own.

Looks like 2016 snuck another celeb without us knowing. Larry Steinbachek, the keyboard player from Bronski Beat died from cancer last month.
