Re: The Rebound
Saw this today at holloway road. The screening room was less than 30% full, which I thought was really surprising.
Anyway, both my bf and I enjoyed the movie. I think the last part was a bit rushed through, but otherwise no complaints. It was surprisingly funny in places. Good way to spend a Sunday morning. 7.5/10

Re: The Rebound
Watched this at The Trafford Centre this morning only about 40% full. What a lovely way to start a Sunday, a typical funny girlie film which me and my friends really enjoyed , wouldn't it be lovely to take a year of to discover yourself (we are allowed to take sabbaticals from work its just family, mortgage and money stopping me i.e. real life)
Thanks to yogi for the tickets 8/10

Re: The Rebound
that's annoying Beate, starting the film early! I was the other way round, I had to force myself out of bed as I thoughtg Wimbledon was 10.30, only to find it was 11.00. as a result I was nodding off towards the end of the film.Beate wrote:Well I hope everyone who went to the Vue Greenwich today is going to complain sharply to Sky. They started the film at 10.30 instead of 11am when there were only about 12 people in there, ourselves included. I went out twice to complain, but was told the second time that it was Sky's fault and that the manager was not going to stop the film and restart at 11am. I am not quite sure how the manager's decision can be Sky's fault but if they were really misinformed about the starting time, then we should have a go at Sky in their feedback forms. There were a lot of people coming in between 10.30 and 11, and they missed some good scenes, including the one at the women's defence class!
That aside, I loved the film just as much as the first time round but noticed that the dates did not seem to make much sense. Aram was said to be born in 1983 which would make him 25 in 2008, so by the time 5 years had passed we would be in the year 2013? Also, I am quite sure it said class of 2002 at the daughter's graduation of something, which made even less sense.
Still, 8.5/10 again!
I actually enjoyed it quite a lot, despite it not being the sort of thing I usually go for. The kids were great, not the usual American kind of kids, and even CZJ was likeable 8/10

Re: The Rebound
Saw this at the Metrocentre. It was a much better film than I thought it was going to be so I was pleasantly surprised (yet again!).
As romantic comedies/dramas go this was the best I’ve seen in a long time. For once there really was great, and believable, chemistry between the leading players, Zeta-Jones and Bartha. It was quite a joy to watch their relationship develop, and there were both some really funny, and also very touching scenes in it.
Some really strong performances from the supporting cast in this film too. The kids were great and added such a lot, Aram’s parents were brilliant too. I didn’t realise until my OH mentioned it afterwards that it was Art Garfunkle that was playing Aram’s father. Really strange to hear one of the first records I ever b*ght in this film too - Desmond Decker and the Aces - The Israelites.
I loved the very impressive yet subtle put-downs from the “young” Aram to the Chinese guy in the restaurant and also to his ex-girlfriend in party - I was inwardly cheering for him!.
Catherine Zeta Jones looked really stunning in this – hasn’t she slimmed down tremendously since her Darling Buds Of May days?
I particularly enjoyed the “round the world travelogue” scenes towards the end of the film
and the part where Aram and Sandy met up in the restaurant years 5 years after their split. LOL at the "I'm 30 now" bit which someone (Beate - I think) has allready mentioned
All in all, a fantastic film well worth a watch!!
8 out of 10 from me.

Saw this at Wimbledon, about 40% full. The film started bang on time at 11.00.
It was a nice film for a sunday morning, funny in places, a predictable ending and great acting by the 2 kids.
I liked it but saying that Id like anything with Catherine zeta Jones in. she is still the most beautiful woman on the planet.
8/10

Re: The Rebound
Watched this at Vue Greenwich today only to find that it had started at 10:30 (which I only knew since Beate texted to say so - thanks!).
I thought the film was great. I was abit skeptical when I first got there (might have been because I missed the first twenty minutes) but as time went on and the movie progressed, it grew on me (for personal reasons
).
The kids were really funny and loved how they had real characters within them in the film. I also thought the guy would come across as a wimp but I really enjoyed his relationship with the kids and how he spoke Sandy's mind for her to her husband.
The toilet scene at the beginning was really funny though. I mean seriously, would men really do that on a first date?!!
BTW Beate this film has been out since 2009 (in other coutries) so the timing might be something to do with that. I can't recall what the girls graduation date was though so could be wrong.
I generally do like CZJ films so did expect this to be good and I'm so glad it was. Beate's initial review really sold it to me!
Definitely a film, I'd recommend to others - 8.5/10 from me.

Re: The Rebound
Not sure what was more worrying. The fact that I spent Sunday morning watching a Catherine Zeta Jones film or the fact that I thought it was quite good. Didn't actually expect it to be laugh out loud funny, but it was on quite a few occasions. The chemistry between Jones and Bartha was good and I enjoyed seeing Art Garfunkel as Aram's dad. The kids were very funny and thankfully not the usual 'wise beyond their years' kids that seem to be the norm in Hollywood films these days. I did think Aram was presented as a little too perfect. He's good looking, funny, loves kids and can cook. Yeah okay, why don't you just give him a pair of wings and have done with it. The best they could come up with in negative qualities was that he was a little aimless and that he read Harry Potter. The round the world travelogue at the end just made his perfect status even more annoying. I was also a little disappointed by Clint Mansell's score which was a bit nondescript and fell well below the standards of his work with Darren Aronofsky and Duncan Jones.
Still this was far better than I expected it to be and worth seeing.
