Absolutely shocked at the comments re film . . .and have even reported that person Emre for the threats he made to someone re their mother. Obviously he is a one of those who deny the genocide took place! . . .

I too, have to admit to not knowing about this terrible genocide and I was totally absorbed from the outset. Cannot believe it is still being denied and if this film succeeds in getting the message out then it has done its job. Would certainly reccommend. 9/10

FB agreed that comments by Emre were against the rules and have removed his threats against someone's mother. Nice to know FB does work sometimes!

Had no idea what this film was about, so surprised to learn at the end that this fictional love triangle story was based around a real event - the Armenian Genocide during the Ottoman Empire - killings by the Turks of millions of Armenians - which is still denied by the Turkish Government today. It is horrific. Even worst, it is a planned systematic genocide.

The film starts off slow with a corny romance and is too melodramatic, but then the final part is much more riveting and interesting, when they are caught up in WW1 and the atrocities of war. Strong performance from Christian Bale as the journalist and Oscar Issacs does his best to keep his promise. Really recommended viewing to bring this part of history to light. I hope it does well, despite all the negativity by people who still deny it happened! 8/10

I too felt slightly ashamed of my ignorance, not knowing anything about this part of history. I felt I really learnt something from the film and was still thinking about it days later. My partner did really struggle to understand some of the accents. Maybe it should be subtitled in parts. I however found it harder to understand the mumbling of Christian Bale. Minor qualms though, an excellent film.
