I Maestri Songs of Love

I Maestri's May Concert introduce a UK premiere of Riccardo Romano's, ‘The Passion’ which is based on Bach’s St Matthew Passion. Nino Rota is a composer of many well-known film scores including The Godfather and we shall present one of his orchestral works which is based on a song about love. To end our programme, we present Dvorak’s ‘New World’ Symphony with the beautiful Cor Anglais solo in the slow movement.

I Maestri is an established orchestra under the patronage of the late Sir Neville Marriner which gives a platform to aspiring conductors and soloists wishing to develop their experience and knowledge in an environment of mutual co-operation. The orchestra is made of the best orchestral players to the best amateurs as well as recently graduated students. I Maestri have helped soloists such as Nicola Bennedetti, Yuri Zhislin, Maxim Rysanov, Dóra Kokas and many others, in giving them a platform to explore their potential and develop their early musical careers in a more relaxed setting.
Tickets are pre-allocated and no special requests can be considered.

YCAT Artists are selected through a rigorous annual auditions process. In this third and final round, 7 outstanding young soloists and chamber ensembles, selected from over 100 applicants in the preliminary rounds, audition before a panel of distinguished judges. Join YCAT in celebrating the very best emerging talent in the UK at this unique event.

Previous YCAT Artists include Ian Bostridge, Alison Balsom, Joanna MacGregor and the Heath, Doric and Belcea Quartets.

We always love outdoors screenings so are delighted to have a few tickets to some pop ups starting next week:

The San Miguel Picturehouse Pop-Up makes its maiden visit to West Norwood at Norwood Park!

The screenings take place in the open, with a limited number of deckchairs available on a first come first served basis. We will also have cardboard ‘bumbox’ seating available for sale but feel free to bring along small picnic chairs – however these must be placed towards the rear of the cinema area.

Screenings will take place around 9.15, or as soon as it becomes dark.You are invited to arrive early, relax and enjoy a drink in the surroundings. Gates will open at 7.00.
