Well from the starters go for this.
Saucisse de Toulouse
Francs’s favourite, grilled Toulouse sausage, served with “Du Puy” green lentils and a splash of red wine sauce
And then er, p*y your bill and leave the restaurant! because omg Diane, this is the sort of menu that ensures you do not lose weight. There is not much choice here, and there is only one main meal that I could point out that is relatively healthy by quite a mile and it happens to a bloody fish meal which you dont want to eat! Why may I ask, young lady, your avoidance for fish???
Lets dissect each meal just for the fun of it, shall we
Gigot D'Agneau au Risotto Champignon
Marinated lamb rump with lime, cooked pink, served on Arborio risotto cooked with select mushrooms, scattered with green vegetables, finished with a rosemary jus
Mmmm, delicious. Why because it has the creamy highly fattening Risotto. Third healthiest option (out of 4!). Arborio risotto happens to be the lower calorie of risottos, but thats not saying much. If you go for this one though, try eat only a little of the Risotto, dont eat it all. Devour the whole lamb rump and eat up those vegetables and then this would actually be your best choice....if you discipline yourself and selectively from this dish.
You can also ask the waiter/ess to seperate the risotto in a seperate bowl so you can budget yourself on it easier. Also tell them not to put any creamy/cheesy sauces on your dish.
Colin a la Vapeur
Fillets of steamed Pollock garnished with crayfish and a spaghetti of spring vegetables, served on crushed new potatoes, with an American sauce and a panache of vegetables
The best option except I dont like the sound of American suace! I mean how vague is that? Considering how obese many Americans are, I'd ask them to leave that out completely! And dont you just love the way they word things..."A PANACHE OF VEGETABLES", er basically some veggies, right? I mean when the hell did panache become a word of quantity. But...you dont eat fish, grrr...lets move onto the next item...
Risotto Monts de Velay
Arborio rice risotto cooked with St Agur cheese,Shitake & Paris mushrooms crowned with a soft poached egg, with fresh Parmesan shavings
There's that Risotto again, and with yum yum make me fat St Agur cheese too. Shitake..uh huh..well apparantly its a type of mushroom (sigh of relief) so all good. But all in all this is the worst choice
Supreme de Volaille Pacifique
Corn-fed chicken breast marinated with coconut milk, ginger, green Thai paste, lime & chilli served with Pilaff rice and an Oriental style salad with a roasted Sesame oil, rice wine vinegar and soy dressing
Coconut milk is highly fattening, avoid such main dishes. I'm sure thats meant to be Pilau and not Pilaff rice, which is high calorie rice. When you have rice options with any meal always for plained boiled rice. Soy dressing is perfect salad dressing though. Well out of a bad lot, this might be the next best healthiest to the fish dish.
You know what though, this menu is a 2 meal deal and is very short in selection. However, looking at the La Carte menu, there is the following item:
Pates d'Asperge £10.95
Fresh Tagliatelle pasta cooked with Asparagus, pimento peppers, Parmesan and a horseradish cream, served with Francs salad
Now this is £2 more (if you consider half of the £19 for 2 meal deal) but worth it for pure healthy and still tasty choice making. But I would understand your friends wont be too pleased as they would want to split the £19 deal. Unless there is an odd number of you, then you're ok!
