Also saw this at Wimbledon, enjoyed it despite not being its target audience lol but nevertheless it had some hilarious moments and didnt outstay its welcome, it was only like 90mins. Also loved the fact that they provided free popcorn for every single seat, good times!!

we had a brilliant time at the metrocentre, free popcorn, facepainting and there was a woman who came round with a plate of lemon muffins but my hangover just couldn't cope with that! I think the party like atmosphere deffo helped, it was a nice friendly chilled screening, no-one legging it for seats (there were quite a few spare places maybe about 10-15%). quite funny in places though i think the pre screeing interview with the voice actors etc spoiled a few of the best moments, all in all we were pretty chuffed 8/10 x

I was at the Metrocentre screening this morning. The tickets said turn up by 10:00 for a 11:00 start. So fearing that the place would be jammed to the rafters, I explained to my clan the importance of getting there early. I even predicted that people may be turned away because it would be overbooked. Boy was I "Mr Popularity" when the screen turned out to be only just over half full when the film started. "Why did we need to come an hour early when its nowhere near full.....etc etc."

Anyhow at least they didn't make us stand in a queue, we were allowed into the screen pretty much straight away which was good. And...there was a free box of popcorn on every seat. It was green tinged - in honour of Shrek ... well hopefully that was why.

Once again as is the norm at these family films there was a multitude of cute kids, and the cinema bless them had arranged for free Shrek face painting and tattoos - a nice gesture I thought! One adorable little girl proudly held out her arms to show us her two sparkly tatoos on the way back to her seat. Probably a future FMUK member. :D

As to the film - Obviously aimed more at kids as you would expect. But, a pleasant enough way to spend a Sunday morning prior to shopping. The first part dragged a bit for me, and I found myself doing that "falling asleep and then immediately waking up" thing as my head lolled forward on a couple of ocassions. Fortunately once I got more into the film it didn't happen again. Of course that may be more to do with my age than any shortcoming of the film. ;)

I thought this film was OK but not as good as the earlier Shrek films. My teenage daughters seemed to enjoy it quite a bit more than me though. I agree with Spanner about the pre-screening interviews giving the plot away a bit - I wonder why they did that!

I give it a 6.5 out of 10. :D

Saw this at Wimbledon this morning. Slightly annoyed that having got there at 10, there was a 30 min wait to actually get into the screen. I couldn't care less for popcorn personally but the green-tinged stuff that was on every seat was a nice touch.
As for the film itself, it was an OK watch. Nothing special. The Shrek series is looking a bit tired though. They attempt to breathe new life into it but they do this by using an 'It's A Wonderful Life' style story where Shrek ends up in a land where he's never existed. A pretty tired story itself, having been done before so many times elsewhere.
There were some good gags but a fair few lazy ones too (The film-makers seem to think that because something was funny before it will be funny again, cue a scene where Puss in Boots does the cute, big eyed thing to get his own way). Of the new characters, the main villain, Rumplestiltskin was fairly good but the Pied Piper character was atrocious, leading to some awful scenes were he forces some of the characters to dance. I thought these were really poor although they seemed to go down well with the rest of the audience. Also a couple of the action sequences were completely ruined by the use of bland pop tunes.
On the plus side there was little of the modern pop-culture references that dominated the previous films (the use of contemporary songs aside) and thankfully no token British celebrities doing voices originally done by US celebrities (A concept that reached a new low in Shrek 2, when a character that looked like Joan Rivers and was voiced by Joan Rivers in the US was dubbed over in the UK with Kate Thornton's voice). The animation of course was also a plus and it looks fantastic.
This does feel like a definite end for the series though, and this is probably a good thing. Watchable but pretty forgettable.

I enjoyed it thoroughly at Metrocentre.... i even left with a couple extra bags of green popcorn (sneaky) and i loved my Shrek arm tattoo! gutted i missed out on a Donkey one though, i would have loved that!
I was also dissappointed with the spoiler interview beforehand.
My mam, fella, sister and her fella all came along for the film, and was my mams first film in about 20 years, she loved it! especially the 3D which was a nice surprise as i was expecting to turn up to a 2d movie.
The staff made the atmosphere so comfortable, this cinema has fab customer service!
Anyway, back to the film 'Do the Roar!' 7/10 :)
