Re: Toy Story 3
I have to agree with things mentioned before. It's probably the best film of this summer so far, but is it better than the first 2? Is it a classic? I think undoubtedly, the storyline is a variation of many previous pixar films, character/s gets lost, plot is hatched to reunite the characters and also many of the themes from before such as growing up etc. Hence watching the film, it didn't feel particularly new or refreshing. Like what some people have mentioned before, it's more dark than some other previous films. It could have done with some more humour. (I was actually laughing the most in the cinema!). Also I am undecided as to whether the 3D effect added to the film.
I really did like the beginning when all the characters were introduced again and also loved loved the ending, it was oh so touching! I had to hold back my tears..... 8/10

Re: Toy Story 3
Well we loved it. It was funny, sad, poignant and sometimes scary. I felt teary at the end when Andy sacrificed Woody to be with all his other toys. And of course when the mum hugs her son and says how much she'll miss him when he leaves for university...well I know that feeling.
So glad to see this a full month early -- we felt very privileged.

I was surprised by how much I loved this as I haven't seen Toy Story 2. It was one of those films where everything felt completely right and it was incredibly moving without being sentimental. I was also surprised by just how dark it was in places. It was also very funny- loved the Shakespearean hedgehog ("We do a lot of improv here"), ambiguous Ken and Barbie who suddenly spouted political theory about democracy.
Definitely the best film of the year so far for me. I wasn't crying, the 3d glasses just made my eyes go all funny...

Went to see this at the Apollo...I saw Beate in the queue but we were further back so didn't get a chance to say hello
Got some different 3D glasses which were bigger than the RealD ones you usually get but I didn't find them particularly uncomfortable.
LOVED the Pixar short at the beginning...the mix of 2D and 3D brought an different and good edge to it and the characters were very cute!
Toy Story was good! It was funny, and like others have said..it had its dark moments. I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of a Totoro toy
I liked some of the new characters, especially the Ken doll...very funny! The story line was predictable but I enjoyed it none the less.
The ending was sad when Andy had to give up Woody, but I liked the idea of the 'torch being passed on' so to speak
.
Enjoyable movie: 7/10

Re: Toy Story 3
I wonder if this film is really going to boost sales for Barbie and Ken.
