Re: Knight and Day
Just returned from seeing this film at Liverpool Switch Island. Having read some less than favourable reviews I was a bit unsure what to expect. However I really enjoyed it, as did most of the audience in what was a nearly full showing. There were quite a few laugh out loud funny moments too. My son (16) and his friends loved the action sequences and Cameron Diaz in a bikini. Yes, some of the storyline is a bit far-fetched, but overall a good film. 8/10

Just watched this at the Trafford Centre tonight. Really enjoyed it but you have to take it for what it is an action comedy, thought Cameron Diaz was really good she always comes across as being such a likeable person. 8/10

Re: Knight and Day
Just back from seeing this in Leeds, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Took my elderly neighbour, who had not a clue what was going on in the film, although he thought that it was a bit too violent.
I introduced him to Pete York who had saved seats, and later he (neighbour) asked me if I knew the person (PeteYork) I had just been talking to... Still, I got him (neighbour) there and back without mishap, although he swore he had never been to that cinema before, and I have taken him on many occasions...
Loved the different locations in the film - from Boston to Azores to Salzburg to Seville (and the other places...), and it was just my sort of humour. Lovely to see some older actors too - and even some wrinkles on show! After long days at work just now, this was just the escapism I needed!
jordsmum - it's also good to see young things didn't think an 'older woman' in a bikini is gross!
BTW - Odeon Leeds was overbooked - all seats taken by just after 6.20. Several trailers too, as usual at the Odeon.

Re: Knight and Day
Sorry for not posting a review for such a long time, but I'm back.......
Saw the film at Glasgow Braehead Odeon tonight. Medium sized cinema was probably about 85% full. Still people coming in at 6.30pm as the credits started but thankfully they didn't cause too much disruption.
I thought this was a decent piece of nonsense for a Tuesday night and left thinking that some of my friends would probably like it. Yeah it was full of plotholes, but who cares - sometimes it is just good to suspend reality for a couple of hours and go with the flow.
7.5/10

Hello All - not been around these parts for a while now and my film tally this year is a woeful 4.
I had heard bad things before going to see this and was worried that OH would berate me for "Dragging me along to see this C%$p" etc etc, but we both thought this was top quality
CHEESE
It was perfect disengage brain and eat chocolate Tuesday fare.

Re: Knight and Day
I'm surprised by all the positive feedback. Did they somehow make this film less shit since they first previewed it a few weeks ago?
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Knight and Day
Saw this at a fairly well packed out Silverlink last night. I thought it was pretty much standard action/comedy fare. It was OK, and a reasonably enjoyable way to kill a couple of hours, but not brilliant by any standards. As Spanner remarked to me later – it was also a little overly long – as if they didn’t know when to end the blooming thing.
On the positive side there were some exciting car/bike chase scenes and it was nice to see a varied use of locations outside of the USA such as Austria, Spain and Jamaica.
Cruise and Diaz had some good rapport going on together, although I do tend to cringe sometimes at the c**p that good old Tom spouts, especially when he grins in that smug manner he has, in admiration of his own perceived wittiness.
The scriptwriter that thought the inclusion of the two "How did I get into these clothes" dialogue scenes was hillariously funny, should never be allowed to work again imho. Cringeworthy or what?
Like others have mentioned, I thought Diaz is starting to look a little jaded, but there again she is still one extremely attractive woman. To be fair to her, Tom is no spring chicken these days either.
But the real star of the film? …..
No contest! It had to be that 360 horsepower 1966 Martinique Bronze Pontiac GTO. What a beaut!!
Moving on to the scores. Its gotta be 6.5 for the film, plus another 1 for the car, so that's a total of 7.5 out of 10.

Us Northeners are just lovely people and probably by reading the previous posts we didn't have high expectations and were quite happy to enjoy it for what it isSimonV wrote:No, I just think the Northeners are less critical than the Londonerssoonforgotten wrote:I'm surprised by all the positive feedback.
