Oh definitely. Premieres are always fun, even if the film is average. You get to walk the red carpet, you often get goodies at your seat, you can watch the celebs arrive on screen, you get an introduction by someone....
but premieres often don't start on time, so be prepared for that, also that you cannot choose your seat - you take what you are given.

Preston1990 wrote:I thought that this was one of the better romcoms I've seen recently. And, at least it had some different people in it! Drew Barrymore and Justin Long gave reasonable performances and, unlike some other FMUKers reviewing this, I thought they did have a certain believable chemistry going on between them.

There was a fair amount of crudity in this. Where it was funny, it worked brilliantly (e.g dining table scene) - but where it wasn't funny it just seemed pointlessly coarse and juvenile. Loved the nods and references to Top Gun.

Overall not too bad a film, so 7 out of 10 from me.
Totally agree my sentiments exactly

Thanks to susancs who got me tickets to this. My mum and I went straight from an exercise class I looked an utter state in joggies and trainers surprised they let us in! Hope nobody from on here saw me!!! Anyway the film was not bad but not amazing, I did laugh out loud a couple of times and I thought their chemistry was ok. Like most, the table scene and later references to the table scene were the funniest bits!!! 6/10

Had the premiere tonight. Picked up my tickets and found out there were front row- great!!!... if I were going to a gig. Far less so for a movie. I arrived just after Drew on the blue carpet, so I took the chance to sneak by unnoticed by the fans who turned out to see us. Oh, I was going to sign a few autographs for the kids, but security insisted that I make my way inside. I can understand, though. Wouldn't want to incite mass pandemonium.

So off to screen 7 then. It was a decent sized screen and the rows curved around the screen so I thought front row wouldn't be too bad after all. Then I realised that my tickets were for the first seats next to the wall. I was damn near on the same plane as the screen, that's how rubbish the angle was. There was a bottle of water, a package of sweet popcorn and a Kinder Bueno for each person. Anyway, 7pm comes and goes... and goes some more. Finally not too far off from 8pm members of the cast, including Drew and Justin (and the Boxer Rebellion... so funny to see a London band I've seen a few times cast in such a move, as an LA band nonetheless) make their way to the front of the screen to introduce the film. Once the lights went down, I made a crouched dash for the centre of the first row which was empty save for 3 other. This was much, much better. And hey- more popcorn!

As for the film itself, it wasn't bad. It's definitely abrasive, but I dig that kind of humour. I love, love, love Charlie Day even if he's never played a character that isn't just himself. I don't even know why they bothered calling the character Dan. I did find that there was a fair amount of jokes that fell flat and a few that were too American for a non-Yank crowd. It didn't really click for me on an emotional level, despite the fact that I've gone through an LDR (and again have been for the past 7 weeks or so) and could relate to quite a bit of it. I guess, I just didn't really b*y their connection. That said, I did find it to be really amusing on the whole, even if there was a missed opportunity at tell both a funny and touching story. Charlie Day pretty much made the movie for me.

I'd go 6.5/10.

Yeah, what I said - often underwhelming seats and a long delay but goodies at the seat. Welcome to the world of premieres. :)

Saw this film this morning at the Odeon in Dudley. The cinema was pretty empty.
I like Drew Barrymore but wasn't familiar with Justin Long. I didn't really warm to him much and didn't feel much chemistry between them. I liked some of the crude humour but in places it wasn't funny and it added nothing. I did chuckle quite a few times though and I like romcoms that aren't sickly sweet.
I didn't like the flatmate characters at all and felt they were a hangover from The Hangover. The other supporting characters were better.
The ending was ok. Overall the film was better than i had expected and I will recommend it to my friends who like romantic comedies.

I enjoyed this, and the whole cinema seemed to be laughing too. I didn't find it too crude or too much swearing (seemed fairly realistic for swearing, although not so for the crude bits) and at least it's aimed at an older age group unlike something like Kick-Ass (which I felt was too violent for the age groups that would want to see it). I felt I enjoyed it as much as The Rebound and got a similar feel to it. The best friend/flat mate was much funnier than the male best friend in The Rebound.

A fairly predictable romcom but saying that quite ideal for a lazy day. Some lol moments and I think on the whole the main characters interacted well together. A simple film that worked.

Annoying that half way through the colour kept coming and going but was not bad enough to ruin the film!
