hallo fellow student!AYBG wrote:Really? From what I've heard, the film retains the comic's sophisticated fictionalised narrative.raj101 wrote:As an intelligent film its not 10/10, not even close.
Well, it wasnt really intelligent beyond a comic book, if you get me. The script wasnt taxing to follow, it was simply well fused with the film's style. You could fall asleep and miss twenty minutes and ti wouldnt make a difference to your understanding of the movie (not that I would sleep through it). Without the special effects, it would have been just another decent movie or tv episode since there werent any ideas in the script beyond them. The intelligence is rather in the film making, and that intelligence is striking -its fast flowing eye popping candy on a new level. you know, the movie is an exciting and gorgeous dessert rather the chef's classy choice (yum). and also, i gave it 10/10, so yah boo.
PS. i've not read the comic book, i mean for the average comic. So it sounds like thats one to add to my list hehe.

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
WIQ was absolutely packed. I couldn't see any free seats and a few latecomers came in and had problems finding the last remaining seats. I didn't get any goodies - wasn't there early enough by the sounds of it - but I was just pleased to get the opportunity to see it. I was slightly nervous that they may ask for ID as I had Beate's tickets (thanks Beate!) but on this occasion they just let us through.
I really liked this. I do like Michael Cera films and I thought he did well - all his angst, particularly when it related to hair was just comedy gold. Kieran Culkin as Wallace was fantastic and their living / sleeping arrangements had me in fits of laughter.
Don't know if I was sitting a little too close to the front but I felt it was a sensory overload at times - I didn't mind all the little captions popping up but if you are going to see it, make sure you have a good view of the whole screen as they pop up very quickly and if you want to read them you don't want to be cranking your head like you are watching a tennis match.
Negatives for me - I'd agree with ejwrank's son, some of the fights felt a bit repetitive. I'll admit
that I was a bit relieved to find out that evil ex 5 and 6 were twins that could be despatched of together!
All in all, a very good film that I'd recommend. 8.5/10.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
We saw this last night at Wolverhampton Cineworld....
I enjoyed it, Kieran Culkin was great as Wallace but this really wasn't anything new for Michael Cera.
It's a nerdy bit of fun with just enough geek. 7/10

I don't think they have ever asked for ID at WIQ, except at that Bruno screening.

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
i just checked out the comic and now i realise that there was a reason they all had powderpuff cartoon faces (you know, gooky semi-gurning expressions, big brown eyes and sleepy garfield eyes lol). its becos thats what they look like in the comic!

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Yes you are right - it's not as stringent as say Odeon Whitelys, I think they rarely check at Cineworld WIQ. I think the ID check was more in my mind as they were asking for ID at one of the more recent screenings I went to - Step Up 3D at Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue. I also thought that Scott Pilgrim would be a more popular screening (think it was 100% full in the end) so there might be more checks in place.Beate wrote:I don't think they have ever asked for ID at WIQ, except at that Bruno screening.
