The Waterboy was pretty hilarious i must admit, but yeah, generally Sandler's films are usually flops

I went to see this film yesterday with my teenager and thought it was hilarious....but we do love our slapstick humour

I saw this yesterday, and have got to say I was pleasantly surprised. Although it was not hysterically funny to me, there were people in the audience who were really laughing out loud on occasions. There are some very humorous moments. The main actors, playing the roles of the five friends, all have some good lines. The women also had the occasional funny scene. I felt it was OK - not Oscar winning stuff, by any means, and certainly not as funny as Dinner with Schmucks, but certainly not as bad as I thought it might have been. (Rotten Tomatoes)

I give it 6/10.

Hmmm..... I'm kind of intrigued by andrews' review.

On the one hand, it would take an awful lot to tempt me back to watch an Adam Sandler film, after the excruciatingly bad "Funny (NOT) People".

On the other hand, I frequently seem to like the films that andrews likes, and she did say this was "not as bad as I thought it might have been" and how she'd been "pleasantly surprised" etc. etc.

She also told us "there were people in the audience who were really laughing out loud on occasions" - but then there were at Death at a Funeral too - another majorly disappointing film which actually seemed to invoke some sort of Movie Rage in me, towards the people that were finding it funny - Fortunately I'd left my meat thermometer at home that day, so any potential stabbings were averted!

Now I know that what she said is far from a glowing recommendation, but hey I may just give it a go in the next week or so as I need to up my 100 free films score as I seem to be sitting pretty ;) on only 46 at the moment. Go on check my list! :P

Could this be a less bad option than some of the other films screening at the moment? :D

I thought it was quite a funny film (but I also really liked Funny People which I actually thought was brilliant!).

I saw this yesterday immediately after seeing Scott Pilgrim at my local Cineworld. I think Andrews' review sums it up pretty accurately. o/

In the main there's some goodnatured, fairly passable, humour and indeed some exceptionally funny real laugh out loud moments. But, there were also some parts that were verging on the excruciatingly unfunny and others that were just plain cringeworthy bad taste too imho.

Adam Sandler gives a reasonable performance it has to be said, but there's no new ground being broken here that you haven't allready seen before in all those formulaic "a load of old mates meet up for a weekend away" Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine, Funny People etc. etc. clones.

Its a 6 out of 10 film in my book!
