Ohhh dear, what to say thats not already been said.. Not alot. I went with 3 of my friends and they had heard of the Runaways and are quite rocky so thought they would have enjoyed this film. However we were all pretty disapointed, far too many scenes which did not need to be in there and felt like we had sat for more than 2 hours. Only got excited when we saw the roller disco .. ha ha.

(Must apologise to anyone in the gate for my tummy rumbling and the sound of my friends popcorn seemed to multiply during the copious amounts of quiet scenes)

I think I will be b*ying the soundtrack to this though

4/10 for the music and roller boots x

What was that all about?

I didn’t think there could possibly be a film worse or on a par with Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll but I think I’ve now found it. I can't believe how many people walked out during the showing, I wished i'd done the same but I stayed in the hope that it would get better.

The only interesting bit about it was the ending.

If they heard your tummy rumbling in The Gate, Sarah, you had problems - you were at The MetroCentre! :rofl2:

8O Ooops... well it was pretty loud and making obscure noises... my friend at one point thought it was a mobile phone going off!

Just my opinion

I’ll start off by saying something positive about this film, Kristen Stewart didn’t have to smile in this role…so that’s good for her.

And I can’t think of anything else, well not anything pleasant.

There was nothing original about this film; we all know that rock stars spend hours of their youth being misunderstood and dreaming of being famous. Then they get signed, get cool clothes, take loads of drugs, have loads of fun, and then in the middle of doing the bad thing they have a breakdown…….so what? We read about it all the time in the newspapers. It’s boring.

It’s not something us normal folk can relate to, and it’s not fantastic enough for us to not care that we can’t relate to it and go along for the ride anyway.

The casting was strange but it did work, Kristen Stewart played a convincing lesbian, but I wish she would stop doing that thing where she looks like she’s about to have an asthma attack. And her singing is seriously scary. I’m still not sure whether it was a joke.

I did enjoy looking at the by-gone fashions, and the end, when I could leave the cinema.

I didn't think it was too bad. The acting was pretty good and it was interesting enough. It did feel a bit long, though. I do agree that it wasn't exactly groundbreaking, but I enjoyed the way it was shot and it reminded me of how rock and roll just isn't very rock and roll anymore. It was decent, but not something I'd be eager to watch again. 6/10.

Be thankful for small mercies, ie it wasn't based on Cherie Blair's book. :p

Well not much to add on this.

Was trappped in in Edinburgh and so had to stay and see it all. Cant believe it was so bad. but disagree with other posters as I loved Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll. Two similar sorts of films one so good and one so bad. Agree with Alythonian what a waste of a sunny Edinburgh evening.

2/10 from me still not as bad as No country for Old Men and Fil I saw in Newcastle two years ago which were the worst free films I have seen. The one in Newcastle was so bad have forgotten the name.

I saw this last night at the Gate. Struggled to hear the film though, as it was being drowned out by what sounded like a distant mobile phone constantly going off.

Have to say I quite liked it, loved the music in it. And loved seeing an older role for Dakota Fanning.
