Re: Made in Dagenham
I’m so enjoying these British films first Tamara Drewe and now this one.
Went to Leicester to see this one and it was well worth it.
I had no idea of the history behind it, what an amazing thing the woman at Dagenham did for us.
Thank you!

Re: Made in Dagenham
Saw this tonight in Manchester, at last, after last screening was cancelled.
Enjoyed it, good, quality, unfussy film.
Excellent cast, Miranda Richardson, Bob Hoskins, Richard Schiff, Geraldine James and more, even some of the smaller roles had name actors like John Sessions and Andrew Lincoln. Plus another likeable star-in-the-making turn from Sally Hawkins.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but anyone else think the opening was very similar to The Full Monty opening?

Re: Made in Dagenham
Saw this again in Nottingham tonight, it was even better the 2nd time round. The Q&As were done by the writer of the film who was born in Nottingham, William Ivory.

Re: Made in Dagenham
Really liked this and thought it was told well. Those women were really brave to stand their ground - I liked the point that was made that these women constantly went on strike when the men had grievances but didn't initially get the same respect back. I've been seeing a lot of interviews with the real women from 1968 so it all felt very real to me - a great piece of history.
Sally Hawkins is great in the lead role - I always refer to her as Poppy as that character from Happy Go Lucky really stuck in my mind. Would definitely recommend this film. 8/10.
And could some one tell me about the bikes - cycling into work seemed very popular and I was just wondering if it was because it was an affordable/quick mode of transport or if Ford provided them free for staff?

Yes, this was a lovely film, makes one grateful for those who fought the fight so we can enjoy the "rights" today.
A film that stirred up a passion inside me to really pursue what we believe is right...

Re: Made in Dagenham
To be honest, I probably wouldn't have given this film a chance based on its title, and subject matter, but a friend got me a ticket and I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were a bit cliched, but warm and engaging. The news clips at the end of the film made you realise how different the reality was, but would this gritty realism have made it any better? I think not.

Really enjoyed this on Monday night. Probably a 8.5 or 9 out of 10.
Great cast and well-told (and very moving in parts) story.

Re: Made in Dagenham
Saw this for a second time on Tuesday and this time audience was definately an older age group and mainly female. You could hear little murmurs of approval throughout the film and a trickle of applause at the end. For me the film was even better second time around.
