My OH got tix for Later... with Jools Holland, and what a great evening we had.

Doors opened at BBC Television Centre at 7pm but we got there just after and joined the long queue, but we were inside in no time, had our names checked on the guest list, went through security, and had our tix numbered with stickers 95 and 96 (so 94 people must had already gone thru), all in 15 minutes. We had to put our bags in the cloakroom, and still time to go to the loo and b*y refreshments, before we were told we were allowed into the studio early.

There were three audience areas, and we managed to stand right at the front with the production staff, and where the acts came in and out. The Friday show was recorded first and then the Tuesday's live show went out at 10pm.
It was all touch and go, as there were not much time from finishing recording and then the live show, about 5 minutes!

The evening's acts were brilliant. Cee Lo Green could sing anything - what a fantastic voice. Janelle Monáe was energetic (but unfortunately, she didn't feel well, so the show had to be re-jigged to fill in the gap), but she did come back on for the live show. Love the music of C.W.Stoneking - an Australian blues singer. The garage rock band, The Jim Jones Revue was manic. Really enjoyed funk and reggae Cheikh Lô. And finally, the Steve Miller Band had everyone singing and dancing. The interviews were with Ce Lo Green, Duane Eddy and Richard Hawley.

Was totally amazed how many people produced this show. But everything was done with precision and so well organised and professional. What a pleasant experience!

We couldn't see ourselves live on TV but OH taped it and we watched it afterwards. Another chance to spot ourselves on the Friday night show on BBC2!! :P

No, it went ever so quickly! The live show goes out at 10pm and finishes at 10.30pm. The recording for the Friday show starts at 8.30pm and takes just over an hour normally, but because they had to re-plan the show as Janelle fell ill, it took a little longer, but they needed to be really quick, as they needed to be ready by 10pm for the live show! And they made it with 5 minutes to spare. Jools Holland was brilliant. :star:

After the show, we went down onto the studio floor and met up with some of the acts, but Cee Lo Green didn't hang around, but we did catch a photo of him leaving, and he gave us the thumbs up! o/

We have been applying for tix for the last three seasons, so was so excited when we finally got tix. They are really hard to get, when Jools asked if anyone has been to the show before, only a few murmured that they had.

Moondance, it is dreadful. That is why I am a member of the Soil Association: a charity campaigning for planet-friendly food and farming. It is like 25p a week to support them.
