I go along with that too. I have always hated this recent forced 3d feed frenzy phase down our gullets, since it began. I love 3d IMAX Animated films like Polar Express and 40-45min documentaries of space, landscapes, unersea etc. I also love the implementation of 3d in certain theme part attractions such as Spiderman 3d in Universal Studios Orlando. That's where 3d works wonderfully. But in full length real-live action movies...NO. They detract from the narrative and become somewhat cartoony/ In some cases it is implemented subtly but then they were'nt needed in the first place. Its just an excuse to raise more profit for the movies. I have to say though, that's very clever from a business perspective.

I have to agree with you. 3D for me is a gimmick. I sure hope those 3D TVs DO NOT catch on... hang on, can't 12% of the world's population not even see 3D (that's about 6 million Britons)?

Well, here we are, chatting about the 3D... turns out they won't be releasing Part 1 in 3D after all!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11506354

"The studio said it could not complete the 3D conversion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in time for its 19 November UK and US release date.

Warner Bros said it did not want to keep fans waiting for the film."

I for one am gutted, I really wanted to see it in IMAX 3D. The bits they converted in OOTP and HBP were pretty good so I was kinda excited. I'll still see it in regular IMAX though. :D

I'm sorry for the fans dissapointment who actually do like the 3d.

But actually, I do not believe for 1 second that they are withdrawing the 3d version for the reason they give (ie for quality reasons and not keeping fans waiting - yeah right!). This is WB and Harry Potter we talking about. The production team at WB are super efficient with every element of film making budget and schedule. They can complete the 3d conversion on time and even if the quality wouldnt quite be there, than if it would be given more time, in normal circumstances that would not stop them from releasing it as scheduled.

So my suspicions for why they are not releasing the 3d version in November is that the 2d version will rake in the box office revenue as much as 3d version would. BUT so much work has already been made on the 3d conversion that they will release it again, closer to the release of Part 2. Now by doing this, they will make tons more revenue because fans will want to see it again but this time in 3d, even I would, and I'm a 3d cynic! Its a brilliant business strategy and I would do exactly that if I were a business executive producer of the movie and softly lie to the fans that it was to ensure they get the best quality product.

So lovesitx dont be too dissapointed, we will get the 3d version too, albeit in a few months time before part 2 :)

that is shocking and i'm with theycallmemrglass for the reason :) i had the same thought though to release it as soon as 2d ticket sales dropped damn them they know we'd p*y as well.

but on other news i did read the interview:
"Rowling told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey that the characters were still in her head and she "could definitely" write several new books about them.

"I'm not going to say I won't," she said. "

more books ? hmmm more movies its very interesting to think of the next chapter as its such an open story line.

I have to agree. I mean, I didn't see Clash of the Titans, but from what I've heard the 3D was pretty awful. You can't have 3D that bad in a Harry potter film, ever...
