I would have if I'd been at the odeon but I'd pa*d transport costs to get there I was also comparing it to the original all the way through so stayed till the end.

The scene with all the cats is missing but then again that's one of the dark comedy moments so of course they'd get rid of it, wouldn't want to keep anything good in it.

Ms Thrifty wrote:Well that was a bit underwhelming - my first ever horror film and if this is standard, my last. I didn't see the original so can't compare it and know that some people who've seen both prefer one to the other, with no obvious split. But this didn't make me want to see anything remotely similar. I was surprised by how old-fashioned and hammy it was in places. Still, at least I can say I tried!
Honestly, if you get the chance to watch the DVD of the original, or it might even be on TV soon, do, it's just so much better.

I could have seen the original free via FMUK last year, but I really didn't fancy it. On the other hand, if I had done, I probably wouldn't have wanted to see the remake. I think it was those people on IMDB who said this was better who persuaded me to go this time round. And I get what you mean about sticking it out because of travel time or cost. I stayed until the end of my worst ever freebie only because I fell asleep, but this time I was checking my watch and ready to leap up and rush out at the end.

very dull. that Kodi McPhee lad was right for the role but the Kickass girl was seriously miscast (not her fault, you could see she tried). The spooky interims and foreboding quiet of the Swedish film are wasted here in what feels like cosmetic silence.

Some films work because of the culture they are made in, and Right One In is one of those, with its 'pure as snow' imagery, its brooding, primeval silences and hidden power and cruelty mixed with helplessly skinny little kids gave the film a sickly feel all the way through. But in this American film all attempts at that look artificial, from the concepts it provokes in your mind, right down to the snow on the ground in the movie.

i would add that i think the original is a bit overrated, but it worked well. this didnt.

Just been to see this tonight. Not seen the original, so nothing to compare it to, but very disappointed. It moved at a very slow pace and could've been at least half an hour shorter. The youngsters who played Owen and Abby were very good, but it definitely needed more action. Definitely not one i'd recommend.

No one walked out at WIQ but they made us wait until 6.30pm before they let us in and when we walked in the end credits of the film before were still rolling! It started about 10 minutes late, the screening room wasn't overly full but I kind of liked it. Had to look away at the gory scenes, but the rest wasn't half bad. It probably helped that I haven't seen the original but I give it a 6.5/10. Got an annoying guy next to me who I had to ask to put his phone away as it was shining in my eyes and got attitude back of course. But he did put it away so it's a result. Had a lovely La Tasca meal afterwards and our friend from Germany is here now too.

Son in Nottingham loved it. I saw the original and hated it. Wonderful how we all view things so differently.
Here's his review:

Just to say I just got in from Let Me In and I'm so glad I went. Surprisingly, it was absolutely terrific. I loved every second of it. I saw Let the Right One In on the train going home once and it really didn't click with me but I think I just wasn't really in the mood for it because stylistically the remake felt quite similar. The kids were brilliant, the tension was immense and some great shots. If it wasn't a remake of such a new film I definitely think there would be/should be an Oscars buzz. I definitely need to rewatch the original.

I thought this was brilliant, a real roller coaster ride  . The innocence of that first hint of pubescent first love, the horror of the monstourous side to her and the, sometimes very uncomfortable, bullying scenes.

There was a sweetness to their relationship that had me tearing up :crying: , the bullying had me that way too. Suspense had my heart hammering in my chest as there was always a thought that she might lose control of her monster side and devour him. The feeding and frenzy of blood lust truely disgusted me :X , it was all in the squelchy sounds.

A totally emotional response i know but thats why i love going to the movies o/ .

I was totally gripped throughout and would rate it 9/10.

The Cineworld at Trocadero was packed, every single seat was taken. A couple came in about half an hour after the film started looked around and went back out and I heard them say presumably to the usher that there were no more seats, he came in and looked around and went back out. I wonder if they were at the right screening, fancy turning up half an hour late! Chatted to two chaps next to me and asked them if they are members of a film club - without hesitation they both said no, almost like they were denying it! So I wonder! :D :D Lovely to see soonforgotten.

I thought the film was so, so good. Not scary at all. I thought I would be safe with a 15 certificate. :P It has a real good, thoughtful story, and the two main characters were so well acted. Granted the gruesome bits were horrific but not any worst from other horror films. It started of a bit slow, but soon had me gripped. It is more thriller than a horror movie, gripping and tense. I really enjoyed this and well worth seeing even on my own! My OH said he did not like horror, which is rubbish as I have seen him watching vampire diaries only yesterday!

Haven't seen the original either.

I have to say it is far inferior to the original and I found the main problems with the leads, the original actors were much much better and the changed ending really isn't the best. 5/10
