I was wondering why Michael Gambon wasn't at the premiere tonight, he was busy acting for you Beate!

Well just back from Lark Rise to Candleford in Edinburgh

what can I say. Gutted was so excited to get free tickets as I had wanted to see this atthe theatre but Mum has not been well so we decided to pass on it.

Am so so glad I did not take her tonight. It was very poor. The actors did there best, but it was a very poor production, the story did not hang together well. Each of the actors took on at least three roles.

Becci Gemmell (BBC Land Girls) was excellent as the narrator.
Sara Crowe (Four Weddings & a Funeral) was weak
Eric Richard (Sgt Cryer of the Bill) was Albert Timmins and have to say found the name confusing as he is Robert in the TV series, he tried his best but felt his character had no real depth.
Johnathon Ansell of G4 has powerful voice but found his facial expressions trying to look like the country person amusing.

Quite a few people left which is unheard of in Edinburgh theatres and theatre was less than 50% full.

On leavinglots of people (who had pa*d) were expressing there disappointment.

Obviously this is the play form which the Tv series was taken from, whihc I love, but if I had not seen the tv series there is no way I would look at it after tonight.
Sadly 2/10 only from me which after my excitement at getting free tickets is a huge let down 8O

I dont know if anyone else went, but Tommy Steele was brilliant in Scrooge tonight.

I never got chance to see him do this at the Palladium but Im glad I went tonight. Its the best version of Scrooge that Ive ever seen.

Very comical, catchy songs and the magic tricks used to make the ghosts appear and disappear were amazing.

10/10

I went too. I agree that the lead actor was brilliant as scrooge. The production and the magic tricks were great (one girl jumped off her chair when the first ghost appeared out of nowhere).
To be honest, I was just finding it hard to cope with all the xmas spirit & songs in October.

Hope you got better seats than I did, Simon. I was sitting in the last of row of the dress circle. The view was not bad, but the lights in the corridor were really distracting. I moved to a better seat during the break.

Hum? Panto season? Smile and nod (*have no idea what that is*)

I was on the right hand side. Didn't see any familiar faces either.

A Pantomime is a musical-comedy theatrical production and is mostly performed during the Christmas and New Year season. Usually most of December and the first 2 weeks of January

Havent you been to see one while youve been in England.

Last year it was Aladdin at Wimbledon and this year it is going to be Peter Pan

No, I haven't seen one since I've been here. I'm guessing it's too expensive for me to consider seeing one (unless I win tickets :D )

Our group were lucky enough to get tickets in the stalls at Wimbledon for Scrooge.

We all really enjoyed it even though it felt a little to early for Christmas shows. Tommy Steele was absolutely brilliant for a guy of 74 years and the production worked well.

Well worth making the effort.
