I just thought everyone should have the opportunity to revisit this Guardian review link I'd posted now that quite a few of us have seen the film.

Interesting, but not surprising perhaps, that critics bend the truth to justify their 'it's a stinker' label. Poor, poor stuff Mr. Heritage.

For me personally I think this justifies the whole free-preview ethos - would I have pa*d up front to see this after reading that review? - definitely not. Would I recommend it to friends after seeing the free screening - a definite yes!
Yeah but damn, its a hilariously funny review though! Thats the kind of reviewer I like, an entertaining one. And I loved the film! I rather read a review that is totally against my view but is entertaining than a review that is dull and fully in agreement with my view!

Read reviews for a general concensus but never let it make your mind up if you wanna see the film or not. Having said that, I am a little hyprocritical because I do find myself giving some films a miss which I originally intended to see but for a poor rating on Rottentomatoes...But I do try to defy them because in the end its out own opinion that counts.

Thought the movie built up and maintained the tension of the immiment catastrophe well - overall a good movie but nothing amaxing special. Would agree with the 7.5 out of 10 rating above but didnt think it was all that thought proving - mainly just standard stuff.

What got to me MrG was that I was 'taken in' by the review, but soon realised after seeing the film that it was actually an out 'n' out p*ss-take with invented scenarios intended to make the film appear stupid. All very well when done after it's general release (then we'd get the joke), but to do so before it hits the streets can only have a seriously damaging affect on footfall imo.

If a critic's going to take the cr*p then at least stick to stick to facts - a BAD film will always provide it's own bullets and, despite its shortfalls, this one didn't deserve such a crass put down no matter how 'funny' the review was.

It's a odd world isn't it - you loved the film and defend the review - I thought the film was so-so and considered the review was a cheap shot effort :wall:

Anyway, well done re the half-marathon! o/

Liked it, but thought it was a bit formulaic. Nevertheless 7.5/10 cos I love Denzel.

I liked it too. Nothing fantastic but watchable and I thought both leads were good.

Now if that kid in the back row would just stop kicking the seat in front so my whole row shuddered. And he was so rude when I asked him to stop. I told him his mother must be proud when he cursed me out!

I was glad to see Beate and OH. Hope you are soon feeling better, Beate and glad to be introduced to sunnysaver.

Unstoppable is an enjoyable train disaster thriller. Good FX, solid performances throughout. Not going to win any oscars, but enjoyable nonetheless. 6.5/10

I meant to tell someone about the air con in our screen having blown up but couldn't find anyone after and there was the world's longest queue outside with only one hassled-looking usher trying to manage it. What film was that which drives masses of people into the cinema on a Tuesday at 8.15pm?
Must say, feeling poorly, I didn't mind the extra warmth from the back all that much and it was only in the last half hour but SunnySaver moved seats as she could smell burning!

I just watched this at Watford, it must of been 80% full, I took my mum who loved it, I thought it was good although a tad predictable, as others have said 3 leads were really good and Chris Pine was very easy on the eye ;)

Would I watch if it was on TV, yes!

.....however as we were leaving I heard a man saying in quite a loud voice 'i hope there's someone out there to ask what I thought of it' so I asked him what he thought and he said 'rubbish, it was like a bad 70's action movie' I thought that was a bit harsh.

We saw the film tonight at Watford, about 85% full, thoroughly enjoyed it, kept Mum, children and I watching, although I did think I would be bored watching a train for about 90 mins or so, but I was wrong. I do admire Mr Washington and I must say Chris Pine (gorgeous eyes) and the lady controller just as great. Yes, I would advise friends to see this film and I also would have pa*d to see this. I have never once read what a critic has wrote about a film (a free preview screening) and by the sounds of it I never will.

I see your point and thinking about it, which for me takes effort, I agree, timing is wrong for such a p*ss take review, especially in such spoilerific detail. Oh and I kind of exaggerated when I said I "loved" the film, as I gave it 7/10, its mindless fun. But the main point is, dont let any review "lead" you. If its a film you were going to see before reading reviews still go see it regardless. As I said, I dont practice 100% what I preach but when I do, I would have missed Steve Martin's Pink Panther which I found funny as heck, wait, where is everyone going?...why is everyone ignoring me now??
