Yes that a good one...do you think Silverscreen?

I think you could do a kids or animated film as well, like Wall.E, Bolt or Son of Rambow. It's not just kids loving these films but it will include them.
Or why not a documentary like End of the Line or Age of Stupid, or even The Yes Men Fix the World, that's funny as well. It's only just coming out in the cinemas but I doubt it will have a big distribution. I saw it at a SROA screening with both Yes Men present, and there is a special screening at the Greenwich Picturehouse on Tuesday with a satellite Q&A with the Yes Men. In a few months from now you could put that on I am sure!

The cunning plan:

The Silver Screen Cinema will be run by a friend and 5 helpers, both Pete and I will overlook, the same for the evening one..that way everyone has a small part once a month and it doesn’t take advantage of peoples time. We will sort out the films, advertising and grants ect. Otherwise we will be running around like headless chickens..LOL well i will dragging Pete behind me...bless, he so lovely

When running smoothly and if we’ve still got the energy, I’d love to use the same model to start a Saturday cinema. For the meantime we could try not to use too many 15 cert so family's can attend….thanks Beate that’s a good idea

if it is'nt strictly new releases, and subs are okay, what about Amelie, Il Postino, Mediterraneo, Cinema Paradiso or Jean de Florette/Manon de Source double bill?

Also if you can take beverages into the screening, how about a special on white russians for a screening of The Big Lebowski!

I know these might be quite old now, but both my boys loved Get Smart, I couldn't see the attraction personally, but they were laughing their backs off....and we all love the Spy Kids films, so you could pick up the trilogy fairly cheaply which might be ok for a Saturday club

I was just wondering...

How about sing along versions of films?

The Sound of Music's probably a bit long at 174 minutes, but there's great potential for fancy dress! (Nuns, Nazis, Clothes from Curtains etc...)

Mamma Mia -would the feel-good factor be increased or spoiled by singing the songs? And it's only 108 minutes long.

Then there's always Grease (110 minutes)

I never did see In Bruges, but was wondering if it might be suitable: I heard that it was a very black comedy, although IMDB doesn't mention this aspect - do people think it at all suitable for the elderly or a mainstream audience?
