Minus 6C here (I know that's nothing compared to the north and Scotland) but at last, a handful of trains running and a single bus service, running to a restricted route. Hope at last of making contact with civilisation...

Loved the pic Andrews.
Nothing in my end of the world - South Wales. Very cold, the occasional flurry that dies out but nothing to join in about. A bit sad, all the students have a weather watch on their computers for the merest hint of snow coming our way.

As other things seem to be resuming a limited service today, I'm really hoping for a postal delivery - none since Tuesday here. I'm expecting loads of stuff which must be stuck in the pipeline and having been stuck at home for 3 days, I would have had time to read magazines, etc. But I'd be the first to say that the safety of the staff must take priority - it'll just be nice to have post again in due course.

Can you really do that or is that a euphemism? Great if you can. Last time we had bad snow, some of my colleagues were fed up that senior managers instantly said they would work from home, whereas we minions either had to try to struggle in or account for our failure to arrive, and plead for a "snow day". It does make sense, of course; lots of senior staff move around anyway but at my level, the work comes to us and isn't portable.

I think senior staff do take advantage as that is what they do in my work too!

Yes, and we often wonder how many hours they actually work, since they never stay in one place for long!
