Black Swan

This is an odd one for me, a thriller involving ballet dancers! I know some people rather watch paint dry than ballet...

Saw Black Swan this afternoon at the London Film Festival - an incredible, mind-blowing film - superb.

Would now counsel any parent thinking of ballet lessons for their child to find some other after-school activity!

Saw it at London too (and interviewed Aronofsky, Vincent Cassel and Mila Kunis afterwards!) and absolutely adored. Aronofsky is one of my three favourite current American filmmakers, so I'm probably a little biased, but its my favourite of the festival thus far (and I've seen around 40 films to date). The film is pure horror though, it tames it somewhat to consider it a thriller.

Someone did see it at the LFF, as above. But it's getting nearer now!

There's been increasing Oscar buzz for Natalie Portman on this film. Can't really comment as I haven't seen the film yet. It's opened on limited release in the States this weekend and is looking decent.

I'd be shocked if she doesn't take best actress.

I wouldn't. The lead actress category is wonderfully competitive this year. Anything could happen, between now and February.
