Just watched the original via Sky on Xbox and the special effects and 'thoughts' of the future were fantastic considering this was out in 1982 !

My son did not feel the same, he said the graphics were rubbish (he left me watching on my own after 20 minutes), but as I tried to explain this was nearly 30 years ago, no mobiles, no laptops, xbox, ps3 etc, but it still did not swing him !

Hopefully when we see this on Tuesday, he will appreciate how much effort went into this film all those years ago and how much technology has changed and how people had the visions back then.

to us oldies the original film was cutting edge at the time, and we still remember it as that. you know, to us, there is a small part of us that still believes that neon lights of bladerunner and non mobile tv phones that you see in Bladerunner are a cool thing, because we were raised on these ideas. Tron was basically to us the screen representation of hightech... and it was the first time we'd been shown what 'machine city' would look like, so that sweeping image stuck.

looking at it now, its hard to interpret the graphical city and landscape of tron as a real computer image, when computer images these days are not far off reality...so our kids muxt think, why bother with what looks like an ancient depiction of 'computer world' when alternative reality of computer worlds that they have grown up with look like our real world...i think thats the way they think today. However, i would like to say that even with all the technology in the world there hasnt been a space sci film that matches the thrill of the Battle of Yavin/Deathstar assault in Star Wars. With all the computer generation today, theres not been a deep sea film to match the scariness of Jaws.

worth a watch, still a crap story though. its on youtube in HD if you want to connect your laptop up to the TV....
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

To those going to see Legacy tomorrow, I'd love to read some opinions afterwards. The review embargo I think is not until tomorrow evening but I've seen some pretty positive comments from the press already. I'm excited from the buzz this is generating but missed out on the sky tickets so won't see it until it officially comes out. I'm rewatching the original again right now to tide me over for the meantime :)

Just seen this in 3d at the Empire and they said I must not say anything about it until 10pm tomorrow night. Something about an embargo. I wonder if anything will happen to me if just say original Tron fans will love this, in an awesome way? Maybe I should keep quiet?

Strange, there's a helicopter hovering over my house.

hold on there's some loud banging at my front door, be right back...

He he. Who's going tomorrow at Greenwich? Tuesday would suit me better but there are other films to see that night.

Hmm. If only this had been the film they showed in the morning instead of The Next Three Days. Didn't want to sit through that again and couldn't be bothered to hang around for over two hours waiting for it to finish. So I just went home. I can wait until tomorrow night for Tron though.
