I took the bus and the traffic was okay, so... don't know. Weird, you'd think Depp and Jolie would attract more people to a free preview, even on a cold night, even in bloody Wandsworth, the armpit of London.

i though there was only about 6 people in the screeening. thanks superhero for the ticket.
the movie was so annoying and boring and bland. Angelina Jolie needs to eat some food, she is so skinny...the whole movie was about every guy fancing her and looking at her and blah blah blah. totally crap, i didnt enjoy this movie at all. 3/10 only coz of the venice scenes

Funny how none of the publicity mentions that this is a remake of a French film called 'Anthony Zimmer' which starred Sophie Marceau and Yvan Attal. It never got a release in the UK or the US though.

I doubt they would mention it.... Only 2 stars in the Metro today, saying basically it's just nice locations....

I was referring to the publicity given out to film critics at press screenings rather than posters or trailers. Quite a few film critics have tweeted about how unusual it is for the film distribution company not to point out that the film is a remake in the publicity information they gave out at these screenings. It's why so few reviews have actually mentioned it.

I've been to see this today, with low expectations for some reason - I wasn't expecting it to work, even though we had Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Venice. However, I was pleasantly surprised and rather enjoyed it. OK - no Oscars here, but it was an easy watch, which didn't strain my brain cells at all, and was entertaining into the bargain. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie make a fine couple at the centre of the intrigue. Venice is a marvellous backdrop.

Go and see it if you want a lightweight romance/thriller.

8/10 - love Venice.

Saw this today and it was fine enough, but looking back at it, you realise how little sense any of it makes. I had a feeling from about the start as to how it would turn out, though I hoped to be proved wrong. But, alas...
How is the world is this guy the savvy mastermind behind it all? Why does he seem so dopey, even privately? I could get that it's all an act if there was even the slightest hint of a flip side. It just felt wrong and I was disappointed that this was the reveal
I agree about Jolie needing to eat something. I thought she looked awful. I think she needs to expand her range though. How similar are her characters? How similar was this to Salt? It'd be nice to see her play a vulnerable character. Now, it's great to have strong female leads in Hollywood films, but must Angelina Jolie be cast in them all? I did like Paul Bettany in the supporting, which is where he belongs. Johnny Depp was alright but nothing special. It's harmless fun and it's not until afterwards that you realise 'Huh, that was all kinda stupid' but the Venice backdrop helps to make it a pleasant enough popcorn flick. 6/10
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.
