Tree of Life

What a beautiful trailer.

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/fox_ ... reeoflife/

This film looks like it will be deep, epic, poetic and real slow as all Terence Malick films are. Though I am not a big big fan of Malick, this trailer has me and I think is now the film I most look forward to in 2011. Gotta say though, the camerawork is very Kubrick like

This will be my cinematic highlight of 2011. Even Terrence Malick's worst film 'The New World' is far more interesting and beautiful compared to anything most other directors can muster.

It's a well made trailer for once that doesn't divulge the entire film in 2 minutes. I also love the use of Bedřich Smetana's music.

That would be a Good Thing.
Photography looking stunning, and it appears Pitt (who, incidentally, was once going to be The Fountain's star) will partially reprise the role of Tyler Durden - read: the finest character ever created for cinema.

Tree of Life screened at the Cannes Festival and the audience reaction was bizarre....

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/05/16/c ... of-life-2/

It seems certain part of the crowd (whom are all hardcore film critics) booed the film while an appreciate part tried hard very hard to counter act it with applause!

I still cannot wait to see this film and judge for myself. At least I will prepare myself to boo or cheer :)

Is it another case of his films just "looking good"? It's another one of those hard to love films I suppose

The you tube trailer posted earlier is not working anymore (account closed or something like that). So, here is another one:

Director:Terrence Malick
Cast:Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jessica Chastain
Writers:Terrence Malick

Synopsis:
From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.
