The Big Lebowski is a cult classic (and an enjoyable film) so that would be one of mine. Then LA Confidential as that's also a standout in its genre.

I've still not seen LEbowski, despite being a Coen Brothers fan and a Bridges fan.

LA has such an outstanding cast, all at the beginning of megastardom I reckon.

I agree with Ms Thrifty choice hands down. And if you have been reading the Tron thread, you will understand why for some of us, Bridges will always be the Dude!

And Valda, being a fan of both Coen Brothers and Bridges, I order you to watch Big Lebowski! Both (or should I say all three of them?) are at their pinnacle :)

Having said that, after A Serious Man, I'm a bit scared of The Coens. That film was one of the worst film I'd seen

I don't enter comps - I never win.

I was never lucky enough to win comps either a_person but as they say "you have to be in to win" and the more you enter the "luckier" you are at winning so try more comps this coming year and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Actually, a month ago I filled outr a feedback form for my broadband (Be) and was automatically entered in a competition which I dont bother with generally. Lo and behold they sent me an email saying I have won a brand new N-type router (worth about £60). For someone who don't enter competitions I felt quite chuffed. I was one of a 150 winners though so I think that is another factor that increases your chances, when prizes are spread out amongst many.

I absolutely agree regards to A serious Man but dont let that put you off! The Coen Bros have become more and more self indulgent of late, I also didnt like No Country for Old Men. Though word is they are back to their best with True Grit. If you enjoyed their early work such as Raising Arizona (which is closest to the fun element that Lebowski has) and Hudsucker Proxy, then you will love Lebowski!

I only enter a specific comp once too Valda although I know some people do mutliple entries for big comps but the more variety of comps you enter the more chance you have of winning something. I have never won a car or a big holiday but do win small prizes and the easiest ones to win are in local newspapers or prizes that are too small for bigger competition winners to be interested in entering. It is fun to win something and gives you the incentive to try others too.

Recently I won a tour of a local brewery and a free bar all day (to try all their different beers)while watching the Scotland verus South Africa rugby game on their big screen. We had a buffet lunch there too and although I don't drink beer (But OH does so was very happy!!!!) they found a bottle of white wine for me and we met some interesting people. Not a big win but enjoyable and different and I can now say I was at a p**s up in a brewery!!!!

however I came across the MSE Comps page back in May, was searching internet looking for another job and somehow ended up on there, didn't even know about the free cinema tickets till then either.

So I started entering a few, just for the things I would really like and since May I have won all sorts, but the best of all must be a holiday to a 5* spa resort in spain which my husband and I are going to for our wedding anniversary in April and an LCD/DVD TV Combi (daughters Xmas pressie this year ), plus all sorts of other things from vouchers, toys, clothes, perfume.......

I realised it wasn't that I wasn't lucky, I just didn't enter and assumed I wouldn't win, if your not it, you can't win it as they say!!

Try it if you have a spare hour here or there.

I know, couldn't believe it when I found out about the holiday, spent 10 minutes jumping and squealing round the front room!! If anyone had seen me through the window they would of thought I was bonkers!! I phoned my nan to tell her and she phoned me back the next day and said I know you won some kind of holiday, but I couldn't understand anything else you said, so thought it best to phone back today when you had calmed down!

I do it when I have a spare hour here or there, which is not often, but it does get quite addictive!!
