i'd like to try snowboarding, but for some stupid reason the university club charges extortionate fees for its events. Not sure i'd go to all that trouble for it, its a pity the sport prices people like me out of it, i'm sure a basic unpainted blooming board doesnt need to cost more than 30 quid! £540 for a snowboarding long weekend excluding gear?? - bloody stupid student union!! i hope movies like this further popularise the sport so that costs of it can fall and become mor popular.
Our snow sports society is EXaCTLY the same, which is why im not a part of it
they wanted a £50 upfront membership fee on top of the fees for every meeting i attend(im assuming to p*y for the rent of the slope and gear??) but considering we're all students, im not sure why they thought theyd be a popular choice considering the others were mostly cheaper or free!

thats scandalous!
i think they are feeding off the upper middle class portion of students. free market i guess, but then whats the point of being a 'student' society, dont they mean 'student ra-ras' society?
the local gym down the road is cheaper than our uni one too. grrr. no sense.

For those who have not seen this and are Sky customers I have just noticed Chalet Girl is now showing on the Sky previews page for saturday, 12 Feb @ 10.30am (film starts 11am sharp) no venues or password yet, but one to keep a watch on as they usually update the previews after one has occurred, which should be soon as preview tonight. I saw this in January and enjoyed it.
