I'm ashamed to say that I've done nothing this year and failed miserably (had fun doing it) in staying in more so I've time to exercise just been out 6 nights on the run hence most of today will be spent doing housework and going through coursework hence my body won't move a lot today
I'm off to Paris 2 weeks today so need to get my head in gear as I will feel chunky next to the stylish Parisian ladies.
Hope you soon feel better MrGlass and will wear more clothes when running so you don't get a chill
Ms Thrifty hope you enjoyed your Maltesers; I love pouring them into a glass of skimmed milk and sort of eating/drinking them (obviously only on my treat day)!
Am off to france with the kids in the six weeks so so looking forward to us all spending time together without the interuption of work/school & uni! I've not had much luck with my weight since i started this thread up and down,,,some successes and some epic fails! I started the contriceptive injection 6 months ago and have gained almost 2 stone in that time...not getting it topped up in an attempt to get my weightloss back on track! (fingers crossed)
I aslo havent moved much this weekend..coursework and housework just like you! :|
Dying for some maltessers now!! lol
Hope you enjoy paris xx we went for new years eve a few years ago and it was such a lovely city ....top tip get a travel pass...its so much cheaper and easier to get about x :D
Thanks for that and I will Im so excited. Thats a bit rubbish with the injection as once its in your system there isn't a lot you can do until your body gets rid of it.
Good luck with the accountancy; I just continually study for my job at the moment I'm doing distal vascular disease just so that I'm up to date with current trends (I actually like studying and researching 8O ).

Alright, all of you, this being January, many gyms and any fitness related stuff have been doing promotions to take advantage of one of the most popular New Year's resolution "this year, I wont miss not one episode of Eastenders".

But today is the last day of January. First off, for all for all Iphone and Android phone users, I command you to dowload Runkeeper Pro which normally costs $9.99 but is free for just this month...do it now even if you dont intend to use it. In time, I'll make sure you do ;) you can use it for walks, jogs, runs and any cardio at the gym. I am using it and is brilliant and I also like you guys to join my virtual streat team so we can motivate each other. Some of you might have an android phone but dont realise it so in your applications, if you have an icon called Market that looks like a paper shopping bag with the head of a droid in the corner, then you have an android phone. Go into the market, search for "runkeeper pro" and install it. This is the last day its free so do it now!

I have discovered another brilliant fitness application on both Iphone and Android which again is free but only for a limited time, its called IFitness. This is a high quality database app that lists every single exercise, teaching how to do it with a video demonstration. This is a massive application and for free at the moment, is a steal. Please download this too. When I go to the gym, I see so many people in there wasting their energy because they are doing the exercise all wrong. Proper technique is essential.

A similar app that I use and is also free is JeFit. As with Ifitness, it contains a database of exercises describing proper technique with a 2 frame animation. This has more features for you to keep a fitness log and motivational diary but its not as simple to use as Ifitness.

Another app that is free for a limited time is Weightloss Trainer which is basically an add-on for Cardio Trainer (also free). This gives you a program to lose weight and has a fully featered link to an impressively featured website. Go ahead and try this out too, maybe you will like it and follow its program.

One more really interesting app I found. Its not a fitness app as such but what it does is measure your heart rate! How it does this is mighty clever. You touch the screen and it reads the pulses at your finger tip. Of course this method is not the most reliable and is no substitute for a proper heart rate monitor but you do get a good reading most times (not so good in freezing cold). It might be useful if you want to quickly check your heart rate after an extraneous workout or if you just suddenly saw Geoge Clooney walking up to you with a bouquet of flowers (well, he wouldnt raise MY heart beat but I know what gender most of you are ;). Of course this app is also free and is on the Android (not sure about iphone). Oh, its called "Instant Heart Rate".

But most urgent, DOWNLOAD RUNKEEPER PRO now :)

Sorry that this post is useless to everyone else without an Iphone or Android :(

EDIT: Sorry the Ifitness is not free, its at a reduce price of £1.25. Still worth it though imo. Also, I just tried out the Heart rate app again, and I forgot its not the touch screen that you touch but bizarrely the camera lens. How it measures the heart rate from this is puzzling but it really does seem to work

I was unwell for over a week :( but I fully recovered now and did my first comeback workout yesterday, took it a bit easy. I have my first ever marathon coming up very soon in April so I have my goal in sight but need to step up the training! Thanks for asking and I do really worship you as the founder (much like the people in the future that were worshiping Bill and Ted!) because this thread...well, the people here, made such a big positive difference to my fitness journey :)

If anyone wants to actually loose weight and do it properly I recommend to look into p90x or insanity.
I am a bodybuilder, and I know every trick in the book. From the fancy gizmo's that don't work to the strict dieting (which is BAD!!!).

The most important part to loose weight is proper nutrition. However company as weight watchers exploit that with their food.
Yes their food is low in fat, but high in SUGAR! And as a chemist, I can tell you that sugar transform into fat easily!

Both the programs that I just mentioned use the same idea for proper nutrition, which is 5 well balanced meals a day.
When I say balanced I mean, lots of protein, complex carbs and a little bit of healthy fat. The topic about nutrition is too big to go into. Google some articles about it or go to a bodybuilding forum. And just because its a bodybuilding forum doesn't mean that the nutritional advice is only for bodybuilders, in contrast it applies to everyone.

Furthermore this note is to the women here, don't be afraid to use free weight during exercise. You will not gain muscle and be bulky if you use a light weight with lots of reps!! Above that building muscle needs the hormone testosterone, which males have about 10x more then women and they struggle in building muscle. Do you think that women will be able to build muscle faster then males???

To cut it short, get one of these programs, it is the easiest and most accessibly way for the public which do not have a proper foundation about losing weight or gaining muscle. When you start with it you have to be committed this is not for the faint hearted!!! Or if you're like me, I have done my research over the years and know every trick in the book. If you can't be bothered start with p90x or insanity.

PM if you have questions :)
