It's a Telegraph screening and they don't do anything special. ;)

Sorry to disagree with you PXC, but that's not strictly true! :D

The Telegraph always seem to have a knack of being able to consistently provide audiences that have an even higher average age than my own. This allows me to enjoy the rare feel good factor of not being the oldest person at the screening. Let us have more of these Telegraph screenings I say! o/

As to the film..... I enjoyed it. It was quite a bit different to anything I've encountered on any of my recent film outings, and all the better for that. It was a humorous film but with an underlying sadness and seriousness.

I particularly liked seeing the everyday life in, and sights of, the Punjab. The wedding celebrations were a real joy to behold as well, with the music, dancing, costumes and ornate decoration. Even the animals had been dressed up!

There were some really fine performances from the cast - Aqib Khan (Sajid), Om Puri (George) and, albeit briefly, Robert Pugh (Mr Jordan) were all exceptional.

7.5 out of 10 for the film.

Nice to bump into fellow FMUKers Andrews and Sarahjc78 at the screening, too. :D

The Mayfair Hotel is a truly lovely venue, the seats felt quite comfy, but it is a pity that they did not allow for just a little bit more leg room. Sorry that I didn't manage to see any of you, but I'm sure that there will be many more occasions.

West is West was lovely. I agree that this was not as funny as the first film, but the script and imagery were lovely. There were some strong performances and I feel that this film was more about reminiscence, loss, truth (and so much more). It touched on the reality of many who have come to England (or another country) and then returned home to find that it is not as they imagined or rather that they have changed and become 'the other'. There was a warmth and truth in this film that is touching and honest ( although approached in a light hearted manner)

7.5/10

Especially the back row is awfully tight, I have started avoiding that row. They should do more screenings at the Soho Hotel! Bumping into celebrities optional.

I was in the middle, and it's still tight. the seat may be comfy but with my jacket and bag on the floor, the leg room was almost zero. and the ladies near by was out of order :undecided:

by the way, it's fun good movie. and really picking up when the bride-to-be start talking. love the scene when her mom ask her to carry 3 empty pots over her head to impress maneer. he liked her the moment he saw her face (looks like his fav singer, right?), no need for the pots! hehehe.

both OH and I needed the laugh, so, it's a 7 from us ;) oh... I think I saw Amelle from Sugababes at the lobby.

That's not too bad unless the film you're showing is 2hrs and 5mins
