Saw this earlier this evening. A very powerful and moving piece of cinema. The kind of film to make you ashamed of being unaware of the true story behind it in the first place.
The acting is fantastic. Both Emily Watson and David Wenham are excellent but Hugo Weaving is extraordinary. One of his best performances so far. There was also good support from Richard Dillane and Lorraine Ashbourne (a fine, underrated actress).
There was the occasional clunky moment (a bit where Watson and Wenham sing along to Cat Stevens in a car was a little embarrassing), but overall the script is very good at telling the story in a straightforward and honest fashion.
Not quite as tear-inducing as I expected it to be (though the Hugo Weaving scenes are heartbreaking) but still very moving.
