I wrote that the same night of the Apollo screening but there's been an embargo on reviews until tonight. I did a West is West one a few weeks back that should go live some time this week as well.

Oh I see. I didn't even know about embargos. It's not applicable to forum reviews, is it? I mean the drivel I write...

There's not really a lot the film companies can do to people who write on forums. They can deny access to press who break embargoes but they can't stop us from going to previews.

Oh and of course you don't write drivel. I probably should have said that first shouldn't I?

Your review is about what I expected but I still I want to watch the movie. I dunno why, I mean when I heard the premise it just reminded me so much of Roswell, so I'm expecting something similar. Anyway, I'll watch it and I think I'll be disappointed as that's story of my life with most movies, however, it's a geekfest this year and unlike most reviews I've seen I've liked a lot of these. Looking forward to a large number of comic book based fodder as well as some standard sci-fi...oh and Sci-Fi London 10th anniversary - I'll be there crewing for at least part of it - can't wait :)

Saw this yesterday at the IMAX. I was really surprised with the massive size of the screen. It felt like I was in the movie.

As for the film, it was entertaining, albeit very cliched, unoriginal and with many plot holes. 6/10

WOW the IMAX is amazing! I've never been before, but what a great place to watch an actiony film (though perhaps not if you don't get a good seat). I fully enjoyed the film as a bit of junk food for my brain, though if I'd seen it in a regular cinema, perhaps that wouldn't be quite the case. A few clichéd bits and hero music moments, but still enjoyed it as a good dose of escapism.

Great description - "Junk food for the brain", I agree wholeheartedly.
The Imax was a great venue for this type of film.
It was incredibly obvious and cliched but escapism nevertheless. I think it would most suit pre-teens. I'd give it 5/10.
