Re: I Am Number Four
Went to see this last night FAB!
Re: I Am Number Four
Saw this at Odean in Bristol last night - cinema was pretty full but annoyingly they had subtitles (those for the deaf) which was distracting and ruined it slightly for me. Otherwise, I enjoyed the film. My husband thought it was a lame but the male lead was hot so who cares!
Re: I Am Number Four
Definitely a throwaway nonsense kind of a movie, though I must say I didn’t hate it too much. It did feel like the first episode of some teen drama for the most part, the predictable school bully side story had me yawning, and the thin plot must have taken ten minutes to write.
Two alien species do the old “good vs. evil” story, the bad guys are ugly and they all wear long black leather coats, which must mean they’re evil or something, and conveniently the good ones take the shape of pretty teens, so I guess we should root for them, right?
Some of the special effects were good (glow in the dark body parts!) but they overdid it towards the end with all that cartoonish violence and the shaky camera stuff. Yes, the puppy was cute but you knew instantly that it wasn’t really a dog, so no surprises there. I didn’t care much for the songs used in the film either.
I suppose there’s a good message somewhere in there about standing up for yourself, but still it’s only about 5/10 from me.

I know that taste is subjective but I really really do not understand how this film gets such high marks from some people.

I've put a review up from the Greenwich screening on my site:
www.flicktalkers.wordpress.com
Massive disappointment and wasnt too impressed with the screening itself, very small screening room and ushers who didnt really care about an entire row of teenagers commentating on the movie from start to finish.
