Gigs tickets: the naked and famous

#245 Post by emmaob3 » Fri Mar 04, 2011 6:51 pm

Hey,
So i am desperate to go and see the Naked and Famous in Manchester on Tuesday but it has sold out. If anybody has or knows of any spare tickets or can recommend any good sites where I might be able to get some I would seriously appreciate it. They are an amazing band who are worth their salt live and would love to see them again!!!

Thanks :)

Went to "They Will Rock You" concert at the IndigO2 tonight which we had won via a newspaper competition. This was billed as "an evening of Queen with special guest Meat Loaf". Got our tickets at 6pm so had plenty of time for a meal and as we were early we didn't even have to wait at Pizza Express. Doors opened at 7pm but I wish I had known that the thing wouldn't start before 8pm! The IndigO2 is positively tiny compared to the O2 Arena and feels really cosy and intimate. We had tickets for third row from the front but to the side and there were much better seats further back in the middle, with more legroom. And every time someone moved, the whole row shook. I was also annoyed by the bespectacled businessman next to me who was there with his son and loudly read him something from a magazine then went on to play games on his phone. He also sat with his finger in his ears during the whole concert - yes it was loud but that's what ear plugs are for!

But I forgot all that when at 8pm sharp Meat Loaf came on stage. I had forgotten how many of his songs I knew and could sing along to! He was a proper rocker and gave us an hour and 20mins, which was fab - more than the main act got. Apparently his whole family was in the audience too, and he name-checked a few people who were in the audience (someone's 70th birthday, someone who works for a charity and a couple whose wedding he had sung at 5 years ago). He was backed in several songs by a lady whose name I can't remember but who was very good. I got proper rocking, singing and waving my arms about and John even got up and danced!

Thankfully, banker and son disappeared after Meat Loaf had finished. They were also litterbugs which we discovered when we moved into their seats and stepped into a paper cup, a Malteser bag and the discarded magazine, all neatly thrown to the floor. Nice.

We got a 20 minute break for going to the toilet and getting a drink from the bar, then the main act, the Queen tribute band "Queen Bee" arrived. I immediately disliked the singer who tried very hard to look like Freddie Mercury but just looked like a weirdo with an overbite. His singing voice was also nowhere near as good. Freddie Mercury was a genius who can never be replaced in my eyes. That didn't matter to most of the audiene though who got into the swing of things, while I was just getting irritated by how the songs were being murdered! This was over at 10.40pm by which they had played an hour. Unfortunately on the way out we got stuck in a sea of people who had just attended an NBA Game at the O2 Arena, so it was all a bit crowded, but we got home in good time.

There will be a similar thing for The Beatles on 7th April and I would go if I won tickets but I am not sure those tribute bands can ever substitute the real thing.

I am however pleased as punch at having been to a Meat Loaf Concert! o/

Oh, I love Meat Loaf, some of his older songs are terrific! Sounds like it was the best part of the whole concert.

It definitely was, and when I entered the competition I didn't even know about it.
