I saw this film earlier tonight. I haven't much to add to what other members have said but I'm going to stick to bungee jumping and skydiving!

Saw this at Cineworld this afternoon with my free voucher from last week's Sunday Times. Good deal - thanks!

This could not have been anything but a Danny Boyle film having now watched it through. The fast packed intensirt dense action and pumping soundtrack was reminiscent of bits of his other films going right back to Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.

The story has been told so often recently you kow what to expect but that doesn't detract from the guy's predicament or the intensity of events unfolding. James Franco was a perfect casting as the laid back dude.

Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Saw this film tonight with my Times vouchers. Was a little predictable. Kept me on the edge of my chair at times - in particular where he cuts his arm off - that really was gruesome.

Good film when you know its a true story though.

Saw this over the weekend as part of regular screening. Got some vouchers which I needed to use before the end of the month.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, even though it was mostly focused on one character and what he was going through. Worthly of the Oscar nomination imho.

Really enjoyed this tonight. Actually, 'enjoyed' isn't the right word but I certainly felt really immersed in it despite the fact we all know roughly what happens. I thought that might make it feel a bit formulaic as I would spend the time "waiting for the unfortunate and painful event". Actually what I ended up finding more painful to watch was the slow dehydration. That sort of slow mental and physical torture is really horrible to watch a person go through, especially when you see him taking those last gulps of water before he runs out completely and in the end the bit with the arm just felt like one part of the bigger suffering. I couldn't drink my water while watching out of solidarity. The idea of cutting off the arm at the beginning was horrible to anticipate, but in the end it was useless and (probably) couldn't even be felt so it just felt like what had to be done, although obviously not easy. I thought Danny Boyle did a great job of making a film and a character out of primarily just one scene without really cutting it up into chunky flashbacks and taking you of the scene. He did a great job of teaching you about the character by showing you what the situation caused him to actually think/hallucinate. I can't believe the guy filmed the event in real life, that shows a lot about his character and he certainly came to life on screen. Not comfortable watching but definitely worth the experience. 4/5

Oh yes, and also Sigur Ros at the end was a perfect choice and really brought out all the emotion of the escape.

Hmm....I am never really sure about films like this and Castaway, Buried.... Basically the whole film is about 1 character, I find it all very gimmicky. Thankfully Danny Boyle made the film, anyone else it would have been unfilmable, he manages to make the 1.5 hrs or so fly by relatively fast. It's a guy stuck in a canyon, the actual story is touching and amazing to read but as a film, it's not really going to be a great script for filming. And as you can imagine, lots of flashbacks and dream sequences 5/10

I think this movie is a fantastic one and is good for everyone except the VEGETARIANS (they need to skip the 3 minute scene where Franco chops his hand off). I expecvted much better background music from AR Rahman, but still not enough good score if I compare it with Slumdog Millionaire.

and not one made in china either.

a belated quote but I only am just now writing the movie review.

Its very Danny Boyle - visceral, buzzing, hallucinogenic. A cluster of dream sequences and last gasp video recordings make up this movie, and it plays well but mabe suffers from one too many of the dreams,or perhaps a bit more background filling in.

It seemed to borrow its structure from 'Into the wild', the Christopher McCandless story, but with far less sunny tragedy and more gritty realism.

But not enough realism to feel true to the real life events.... trapping and cutting off your arm would be a LOT more painful than it was made out to be here, esp cutting the major nerves, that brain splitting pain that would just keep firing for ages...but i guess half an hour of screaming wouldnt make a good movie!

I am probably picking out minor greviances though. Its a helltrip movie.
7/10.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Gruesome despite just a little portion of the film involved bloodshed! What a thing to do for survival! I do respect the courage he had.
