I really like the fringe festival! there're loads of shows everyday. Famous ones better book the tickets in advance... i stayed in a hostel, as i remembered, i only planned the trip to fringe 1 week in advance...

Yes you can book it online. I can't remember when the programme comes out. they do do deals if you b*y 5 etc, or they do sell 2for1 on the day of what's left over but all the big comics sell out really quickly.
Accommodation is expensive but there are a few tRAVELOdge type places that are cheaper if you book early.
Lots of people rent their flats out. I did mine about 10 years ago and got the equivalent of a months rent per week for three weeks. I was lucky the flat was fine but I've heard some horror stories about damage - I guess that's what the high rent covers!

OH MY LORDDDDDDDDD
YOU mentioned Frankenstein!!!!
All the shows in the NT series being screened will not be touring. Do you really think Dame Helen Mirren will tour the regions?

Gosh I apologise for not being as eloquent as you are. I think most people know what I mean when I was merely making a point that watching theatre in a cinema is fine, but it's not a substitute for the real thing.

And yes even Helen Mirren tours, if not the "regions" so to speak:

I can report back from the first half of Cause Celebre. Unfortunately I think most people will be extremely bored by the production. In the era of Chicago, this feels extremely old fashioned, when played so straight-laced even with an excellent performance from Anne-Marie Duff (Wife of James McAvoy). I did like the music and the lighting initially but then when you realise the whole of the first half is literally in the dark bar the use of spotlights, your eyes get very tired.
It's abit of a Terence Rattigan season at the moment, with Flare Path as well. Hopefully thats better. 5/10

I pretty much agree, not sure whether it is the play itself or the production which is not properly paced/timed (yet?) that makes it boring.
I thought the second half was a lot better than the first but there is still plenty of room for improvement. Once it is running smoothly the set could be quite interesting with one area dissolving into another. If anyone wants to see it I would suggest to do that towards the end of its run (previews are starting tonight and it runs for 3 months).

Thank you Superhero for posting this. It was a very interesting experience to see a play at that stage of productiona and I would love to do that again.

Shame I didn't know what you look like (I thought I had seen you at Unknown, but that must have been someone else, because that person was not there today). Where did you sit? :star:

God it was dark wasn't it? They seemed to test a few different things but there was a lot of squinting going on from me. It's quite depressing and tragic, but pared down and well acted. Not perfect I agree, but the story's engrossing enough and Ann Marie Duff carries it - wasn't so sure what the forewoman character brought to it really. I thought the space and the set worked really well and glad I managed to get the afternoon off to go see it. Thanks for the head up on this one superhero!
