Of Gods and Men is an amazing film, based on the life of the Cistercian monks in the mountains of Algeria in the 1990s. When some Croatians are massacred by an Islamic fundamentalist group, the monks face a terrible dilemma. Should they stay or should they leave? A really moving tale about belief, friendship etc.
The film won the Grand Prix at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. It became a big critical and commercial success in its domestic market. France submitted it for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.

I'm pleased that someone has seen and posted about this, as I really want to watch it. So far as I'm aware, if you live in the south-east, it hasn't been shown outside London or other large towns but given how well it's performing, I hope it will find its way to more cinemas soon.

It's found its way to the Ultimate Picture Palace in Oxford, where I saw it last night. Really enjoyed it, thoroughly gripping story and effectively told. Actually, not sure 'enjoyed' is quite the right word, but I'd definitely recommend seeing it.
