Re: The Lincoln Lawyer
I thought this was a reasonably good legal drama. It had a strong script and the pacing was well controlled although it did drag a bit towards the end. The film was entertaining although rather predictable.
McConaughey gave a strong solid performance and really carried this film. He does the slick smug lawyer really well and manages to inject vulnerability and menace into his performance at the same time. His recent roles have been a waste of his talent, IMO, and he is in danger of becoming typecast as the rom-com guy. Here he is back to his roots and really shows his dramatic acting ability – this is one of his strongest roles since A Time To Kill.
The supporting cast were good but felt a bit flat. I would have liked William H Macy (who looked ridiculous with that hairstyle) to have been given more screen time and I felt cheated by the ending as I did not believe the character was developed enough to justify their actions. Perhaps the novel achieves this more effectively but I felt slightly let down by the movie’s version.
I enjoyed the opening montage and this established the tone of the film well. The film was well paced, had sufficient drama and mystery but the highlight is McConaughey’s performance. 7.5/10.

I really enjoyed this thriller and to be honest I was surprised at how good it was. It had a "cool" feeling to it and the soundtrack stressed that too. The cast was very well selected and acted really well, giving personality to the characters. The storyline was quite complicated at times but it worked really well and in a way that was easy to believe. Overall I would give it a 7.5/10 (I do agree with others that it felt a bit slow at times but it was needed in order to tell the story).

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it! Wasn't really expecting much but it was a good solid film with a well written script and a fab soundtrack that really contributed to the film! Not really a fan of Ryan Phillipe, find him a bit slimy at times but he was perfect for this role, as was Matthew McC. It did drag slightly towards the end and was long but to explain the story it needed to be. Will def watch it again when it comes out on DVD and would seriously recommend it.

Saw this on Wednesday. Can't say I have ever been a McConaughey fan. I found this film to be quite slow at times and my attention wavered on more than one occasion. Have always been fond of Marisa Tomei shame she didn't have more than a bit-part role. As previously described, if there is one word that sums this movie up it is "solid". I think that says it all. 7/10

At least my evening wasn't a total waste of time... Saw this after Sucker Punch and thought it was excellent. Nothing new but still gripping until the end, a strong 8/10.

Re: The Lincoln Lawyer
As a fan of Michael Connelly, I was very much looking forward to watching the film version of the novel. Often, I find that the film is disappointing after reading the book, but on this occasion I was very surprised and satisfied with the outcome.
I have never been a fan of Matthew McConaughey - always thought him one-dimensional and fairly smug. However, he gave a very creditable performance and carried the film.
Ryan Phillipe was not sinister enough for my liking, and the role of the mother was not taken far enough.
Loved the music as well.

Re: The Lincoln Lawyer
I saw this last night and was really glad I did.
the best performance from matthew McConnachy (rather than his torso!!) in 10 years since he last played a lawyer in the Grisham film!
this was well acted, well paced and a thoroughly good interpretation of the book.
I can see why it's been getting 4 stars.
If you want a good entertaining drama, go and see this before it goes which is likley to be soon.
8.5/10 from me.

Re: The Lincoln Lawyer
It had a cool feeling to it and you could understand that by the soundtrack.
I quite enjoyed the thriller and some moment it was obvious what was going to
happened.

Re: The Lincoln Lawyer
there was something about Matt that was right for his role here. The way he moved and walked around in them confident and comfortable straight lines or when he got up or sat down with the same deft, straight coolness.
